With Black Friday coming up it’s a great time to snag a new display. Had a quick peruse on Curry’s and found some great deals already. A very capable 1440p IPS display, the VG27AQ1A is down to a very affordable £219...

PCSPECIALIST Recommendations for Monitor to go with New PC Build

If this hasn’t gone into build yet I would strongly recommend getting some advice on this. You’re on an old platform which is not only 3 gens old but wasn’t even great on arrival. I would recommend some storage edits too. If you’re happy to let us know your budget and use cases for the PC we can...

PCSPECIALIST RTX 40 SERIES IS HERE!

Now that the 4080 is available on the configurator, it's the right time to share some third party reviews. In terms of availability the 4080 can be had on PCS for £1329 at time of writing. This is highly competitive with the current market which is always good to see, other options are...

PCSPECIALIST Pc build AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Six RTX 3060ti

Hi there, Welcome to the forums! Not a bad spec attempt at all, but there are a few areas for improvement. What is your budget? Any uses besides gaming? What monitor are you using this with?

PCSPECIALIST Monitor Guidance - No Idea Where to Start

Both great picks, I think the MSI monitor has been discounted to £400 or below in previous Prime Day / Black Friday deals so fingers crossed it gets discounted this time around.

PCSPECIALIST Hey! Just wondering if this is a good PC for Minecraft and Fortnite

Going to throw a bit of a curveball here, but given that you already own a laptop, I would be considering an Xbox Series X if I was in your position. Consoles are very powerful, you need to be spending upwards £1500 on a gaming PC to get equivalent performance. To get a PC specced with a good...

PCSPECIALIST Need advice on Gaming PC Build

For 4k gaming you shouldn't see a difference, all you get are 2 more P cores, but most games won't make use of them anyway. If you had more productivity tasks it would be a different story, but with gaming as the primary focus I wouldn't say it's a necessary upgrade. That being said, going up to...

PCSPECIALIST Need advice on Gaming PC Build

With a 3080 in mind you should definitely be looking for a new monitor too. Black Friday is definitely a good time to get a deal for that. 4K 144hz is really what you should be aiming for, hopefully we should see some options around the £500 mark 🤞

PCSPECIALIST Optimise a £2250 Budget Spec

Nice changes in here. The 500GB Samsung 980 pro is faster (and cheaper!) than the 970 so is a no brainer to switch in. I would recommend dropping the HDD to 3TB, as 4TB and up drops the speed to 5400RPM. Any reason you need Windows 10 Pro? There are very few cases where you need Pro over Home...

    PCSPECIALIST All assistance greatly received

Hi there, My first recommendation would be to read the following https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/please-read-before-posting-collaboration-of-helpful-hints.77691/ And then please let us know your budget and what monitor you’re pairing this with. You’ve said you want 64GB of RAM...

PCSPECIALIST Need help to know if this works

Guide on sending in your own case above. Build looks solid besides that, only thing I would change is having a second 1-2tb m.2 drive for your games. You will load much faster on an SSD compared to a HDD, and this will get even faster as Direct Storage becomes better implemented over the next...

PCSPECIALIST Building my first PC - could I get some feedback on my proposed build?

Switching to the DDR4 configurator (the 13600k can support both DDR4 and DDR5, but the motherboard will only support one or the other) we can fit everything in nicely at the £2k mark. Case LIAN LI LANCOOL 215 GAMING CASE Better airflow case for the same price Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™ i5...

    PCSPECIALIST New gaming PC advice

You would be looking at a 3070 GPU at a minimum, but ideally a 3080 to make the most of your 4k 144hz monitor. With Intel builds the motherboards tend to last for 2 generations of CPUs; the Z690 in your spec above supports 12th and 13th gen Intel CPUs, but won’t support 14th gen and beyond when...

PCSPECIALIST Building my first PC - could I get some feedback on my proposed build?

Hi there, Not a bad first attempt, but there are definitely areas to optimise. Biggest save is probably going back to DDR4, as the performance gains from DDR5 aren’t quite there yet to justify the sizeable price increase. Cooling and PSU could be bumped up a bit too. What’s your budget for the...

PCSPECIALIST Is this a good build?

Please don’t buy this. You’ve overspecced in a couple of areas (especially RAM and storage) and under specced pretty much everywhere else. Give this a read: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/please-read-before-posting-collaboration-of-helpful-hints.77691/ And then let us know your...

PCSPECIALIST Optimise a £2250 Budget Spec

PSU is dangerously low, both the 12600k and 3070ti are quite power hungry, I would want an 850W PSU in there. A 120mm AIO cooler is woefully inadequate to cool your CPU, I would recommend a h100i RGB PRO XT at minimum. Silver warranty for a fiver is well worth it. Having your OS and programs on...

    PCSPECIALIST looking for advice

Hi there. 1000 euros isn’t a great budget unfortunately as components aren’t the cheapest right now. For purely gaming you need to be looking at upwards of 1500 euros before you’re beating out consoles. The PC above won’t give anywhere as good performance as a PS5 or Xbox series X.
