It just won't run the .bat file, i put it on the USB stick when i get to the screen to run the bat file i'm not entirely sure what to write - i tried Ecflash.bat but nothing is happening..

Also Pcspecialist are checking that file because they're wary it might mess the laptop up, so i'm not going to install until they give the Okay :p

Well i have been running mine for 36 hours now and it's dead quiet and running absolutely fine.Even the temps are ok.I understand mate if you don't want to take the risk.

Is it abit quieter during gaming too? think the fan should be roughly 70% during gaming, not 100%
is it any different?

I don't play pc games but as i say I've been using pcsx2 (ps2 emulator). The fan speeds up as the temp increases but It's not as loud as before (100%).As soon as i finish the fan pretty much instantly quietens.Temps for my cpu are around the late 60s.For me it is definitely an improvement.I have an i7 4800mq and gtx 765m if that helps.

Mine does the fan thing, just got it on the 14th, i.e. 2 days ago.

Just browsing the web, or typing in a text file, and the fan will go 100% for a few seconds, like a hoover.

Haven just gotten my laptop recently: from what I've noticed, the fan thing seems to come from the nvidia optimus feature spazzing out and causing the high-end grafics card activate on random things that doesn't need it. Changing from "let computer decide" to "use integrated intel graphics" on the global profile in nvidia control panel seems to have mostly dealt with it for me.

Mine comes on either way, infact today the fan ran for roughly 4 hours full pelt after i came off a game and the temps were fine :( tried using cooling pad and everything

In what way is it driving you mental? if it's coming on while idling at full pelt email technical support and ask for the new firmware to be made and sent to you and see if that works, if during gaming and won't stop after etc etc then you'll need to wait most likely for the official fix

Yes, idling, no GPU, 1% cpu or less. No slow ramp up, its all or nothing, amazed this laptop could get to this stage and no one at PCS noticed.

The fact that PCS is still shipping Optimus V laptops with this fault has really put me off getting one. It's not just a case of the early buyers being affected. :(

It's an awesome spec for the money, but i really don't want to go through the kinds of problems the people on this thread have been through.

Okay if it's during idling then the Firmware update may work for you going by what other have said previously, send email to Pcspecialist and they'll sent USB out and instructions 1st class for you.
Hope it gets sorted for you :)

Funnily enough, I'm doing some VERY intensive work on it now, 100% cpu, all 4 cores busy (8 with hyperthreading) for minutes on end.

Not a peep from the fan.

Make me wonder if the fan will even turn on if it needs to.

Where can I see the cpu/gpu temp?

Thanks.

Mine did the same today, played Final fantasy XIV open beta, the fan did not come on, however the laptop got extremely hot and it shouldve come on.
The fans seem so random sometimes, sometimes its fine, sometimes its full on, and sometimes they just wont come on.
but you can check temps if you google Speedfan and download that

What kind of temps were you getting? Having it sound like a hoover would be annoying but I think I would find a workaround, however fan not coming on and laptop overheating is a big red X for me

I use HWMonitor for my temps, you could also use speedfan as a backup check. Gpu-z and Cpu-z are also good ways to check and I know gpu-z allow you to create a log file with temp updates each second so you can background it. Was your work GPU intensive too?
