Optimus V Fan Noise

I updated my Clevo W350ST (not the Optimus V 'version' but it's still the same laptop) to the latest EC firmware 1.00.07 and I'm pretty sure this fixed the fan problems. After the GPU goes to idle the fan now slows down and eventually stops.

Send an email to enquiries/webmail and let us know you need it.

I have to manually create the BIOS flash and driver package, so I'll probably be doing them in bulk over the weekend.

Hi i have tried emailing as i am using windows 7 and need both the brightness update and the fan fix,but i haven't had a reply could you possibly send this to me JakAttack?.

Many thanks!.

Have you guys tried putting the laptop to sleep mode when idle? My current laptop's fans now also randomly go 100% when idle but I just put it into sleep mode and it turns off all the fans.

Turns out the bios update isn't going to be fixing the fan, as i've had mine installed already when i sent for repair and nothing changed so guess i gotta wait for full thing

Where can this be downloaded from?

I downloaded the EC firmware from here (EC 1.00.07) http://www.btodownloads.nl/index.php?dir=Notebooks (Drivers)/15CL58 - 17CL58 (W350ST - W370ST)/Bios/

(THIS BIOS IS AN UNOFFICIAL BIOS AND HAS NOT BEEN TESTED BY PC SPECIALIST OR CLEVO, PLEASE USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, IT CAN THROTTLE YOUR CPU - PCS)

The firmware is for the W350ST and W370ST so it should work with the Optimus V but I can't guarantee that it will.
I'm pretty sure all fan issues are resolved.

You have to run it under a DOS environment. I posted a little guide but it hasn't been approved yet...

Gottya i know what you mean.Akerific use the rufus tool that sparky mentions and make a bootable usb.restart your laptop and boot from that usb to flash.

Well so far so good!.I have run a ps2 emulator at fullscreen and dolphin gamecube emulator to,and the fans have been very quiet.Normally that is all it would take for them to start up.

Will keep you posted!.

The fan seem to be fine most of the time now but it does have some moments where it still spins too fast.

Yeah you're right but as soon as i stopped the emulators it ramped down pretty quickly,so far it is definitely less noticeable than before and quieter.

Fingers crossed!.

1. Download the latest version of rufus
2. Prepare an usb with rufus (all content will be deleted)
3. Put the EC firmware on the usb stick
4. Boot from the usb stick
5. Go to the directory the firmware is in (eg. C:/bios/ by using the command 'cd /bios/')
6. Run the .bat by typing ECFlash.bat

I don't really have a lot of time right now so I hope this will help I will check back as soon as I can and make a proper guide if needed.

I still can't figure this out much sorry i'm abit thick :p
Some reason it's just not doing anything for me
also does the fan go slower at all while ingame?
the biggest issue for me is the fan is so loud i can't hear the actual game most of the time

Well it's still a lot quieter for me,so thanks sparky!.

What's the problem akerific?,how far you got?.Follow sparkys instructions, when you use rufus make sure you select the usb stick your using (ie what drive letter) then format it using msdos option, then just add the files from the bios zip to the usb you just created.
then as sparky says boot from the usb stick (instead of windows)
run the .bat file and the software will do the rest.
