PCSPECIALIST Please Check these specs are compatible (adding my own GTX 970)

Given your budget constraints a move to a 5800x will be a struggle at the moment. It is not just the processor change, but the upgrade to the motherboard and cooling which would mean a £200-£250 increase over a build with the 5600x.

    PCSPECIALIST Compatibility - Build

What’s your budget and what monitor will you be using? Please include the configuration link, so that we can suggest changes to your build. My first thoughts are that a 5950x and 3090 are better suited to productivity than gaming And the ROG STRIX version is a premium price for little benefit...

PCSPECIALIST Good Books to read (or series if you prefer)

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson was one of my favourite series when they came out, although that is more than 40 years ago.

    PCSPECIALIST Does this look balanced

Be very careful about cheap Windows keys available online. If they are significantly cheaper than PCS or Microsoft, they are almost certainly bogus. They may work for a while, but could be disabled by Microsoft. Also, do you really want to be downloading anything from a website that sells dodgy...

I don’t know if I’m more scared about what you look like at 9 or 39

PCSPECIALIST Pc for 4k gaming and photo editing

What is your budget? What is the refresh rate on the monitor(s) and will you use the same monitor for gaming and editing? Please provide the configuration link, so that we can suggest some changes. At first glance, I would change the storage. The 4TB Barracuda is slow. You really want a second...

Female hobbit. Bigfoot would then be a suitable middle name in place of Proudfoot. :)

PCSPECIALIST Computer crashes and fans spin like mad!

What graphics card do you have? Where did you get Windows and how did you install it? Have you ensured that all Windows updates have been installed including optional updates? Please provide a picture of your Windows Update screen. Where did you get your graphics drivers from and how did you...

PCSPECIALIST Think i may be sending pc back again :( Gpu like a wind turbine :)

I have never found wind turbines that noisy as they only rotate at 15-20 rpm. Gas turbines (which is what I think you meant) are a different kettle of fish. They rotate at several thousand rpm and are what make the noise on most aircraft

    PCSPECIALIST New PC Spec Help

Please provide the full specification with the green configuration link, so that we can make some changes to make this a more balanced build. What monitor will you be using with this? What software will you be running?

PCSPECIALIST New PC for heavy home use

Please be aware that the Ironwolf HDDs are designed for servers and are noisy, which seems at odds with the case you have chosen. You really don’t need RAID, so I would go for 2x2TB Barracudas (without RAID) to give you 4TB of HDD at 7200rpm. The Corsair MP400s don’t have as good write endurance...

    PCSPECIALIST New Build

What’s it for, what’s the budget and what monitor will you be using? The 11th Gen. Intel CPUs are not a good choice.

PCSPECIALIST New PC for heavy home use

Wow. That is a lot of storage, but I guess you know how much you need. Ideally, you would put the OS and apps on a smaller M.2 drive (512GB) and use a second M.2 for your fast storage, which doesn't really need to be as fast. The big Barracuda HDDs are very slow and RAID doesn't really offer...

    PCSPECIALIST Help with build

You cannot save yourself £80 and get a legal Windows licence, unless you are transferring a licence from an old PC you won’t be using any more. Cheap keys available online will be bogus and I would be very wary of downloading anything from a site that is selling dodgy licence keys.

PCSPECIALIST Very Unsatisfactory End to an Exciting F1 Season

Masi did not follow the rules as written. He only let some lapped cars pass and not all of them. He then didn’t follow the rule that said the safety car should stay out until the end of the next lap. The race director might control the safety car, but surely he still has to do that within the...

PCSPECIALIST Very Unsatisfactory End to an Exciting F1 Season

It was a contrived finish created by ignoring the rules. It wasn’t an exciting last lap, as Lewis Hamilton was a sitting duck and had no chance on old hard tyres against new soft tyres..

PCSPECIALIST Very Unsatisfactory End to an Exciting F1 Season

Michael Masi (race director) seemed to be making it up as he went along, ignoring rules and previous established practice. Lewis was leading by about 12 seconds with 5 laps to go when a safety car was put onto the track. Max pitted to put on new soft tyres, but Lewis stayed on old hard tyres. As...

PCSPECIALIST Mid range gaming pc to run Elden Ring,

I would go with something like this. The storage will be faster. The 750 TXM is usually the minimum we would select, ideally an RMX. I have removed the WiFi card, as you already have WiFi on the motherboard. Case COOLERMASTER MASTERBOX TD500 MESH ARGB GAMING CASE Processor (CPU) AMD Ryzen 5...
