Think i may be sending pc back again :( Gpu like a wind turbine :)

Hi all, So got my pc back after almost a complete rebuild. I will say it is working , but they installed a new gpu which is a different model and it is like i have a wind turbine in the bedroom.

I had the zotac 3080 in the original build, and they have replaced it with a gigabyte oc version . which is a nice card i would think .
The issue is the hot air is not being pushed out the rear at all like the zotac card did , The hot air is being pushed towards the glass case cover which is of course generating more heat , and playing a game card is almost hitting 80c which is ok but still a little high i feel , but the fan speeds are around 90 percent full, so even with headphones on it is still very loud .
The zotac card was pushing the hot air out at the rear of the case, and this card is not at all . I have even had to remove the glass side panel to try to reduce the noise and temps , which i should not have too of course .

For example at moment running far cry 6 with panel on case temp for gpu is 78-79 c according to msi afterburner and fan speed is at 88-90 percent . so so loud .
With side panel off temp is 73c which is nice but fans still running at 84- 86 percent , still so loud .

So really i need to focus on the issue with the case side on , all i know is with the zotac card i never had a noise like this , but with this gigabyte one its so loud , Just trying to think of my options .

Have tried reducing the fan speed manually, but of course the temps rising, so not really an option, and i do not want to have to have the side of my case off all the time,

Can you post your full PC spec please mate. Someone may have some good ideas to help.

You say that the GPU fans are directing air towards the side panel, do you have the card vertically mounted? Most cases aren’t designed with that in mind and you usually end up with restricted airflow which contributes to a noisier system and potentially reduced lifespan of the card. When posting your spec could you also include a pic of the PC, please?

There's nothing wrong with the setup and temps are fine, just need to set a manual fan curve if it's too noisy.

i have tried to set fans a little lower but the temp just increases to very high level , maybe i am missing something as new to setting fan curves, but all i can do is compare it to my original card that was in there

i have mot really set a fan curve i just tried to reduce the fan speed a little on mSI afterburner, from when it was at 90 percent fan speed at temp of 78 c. Only lowered to 85 percent to try and temps up to 81 c. I just never had this with the zotac card

Yes, so you need to set a custom curve.

When are the fans loud? Is it just during gaming or when you turn on the PC?

just when gaming when the fans hit around 90 percent

It's literally just a chart with each point being speed vs temp, you just curve it with the ramp you want to see.

Just play around with it until you get the results you want.

You can also reduce clocks to stock to reduce temps as it's an overclocked card out of the box.

I have never found wind turbines that noisy as they only rotate at 15-20 rpm. Gas turbines (which is what I think you meant) are a different kettle of fish. They rotate at several thousand rpm and are what make the noise on most aircraft

that is a good point, but set a fan curve, still not happy, the ard should not be reaching 83c now , never had it with the original gpu . the hot air from this card is not blowing out the rear of the case at all, like the zotzc card did .

What is the model of GPU? I'm assuming it's a 3 fan Eagle OC 10G or a Gaming OC 10G. Gigabyte do call their cooling system "Windforce 3X" so perhaps they were being rather more literal than we all imagined!

To be serious though, I can't see anything wrong with your setup: case, cooler etc are all excellent. A quick check of GPU reviews and you'll see that some are getting temps of <70 under stress and others 80+ on these cards. 80 isn't intrinsically an issue. These cards just run hot.

The issue is probably associated with the fan curve. One of the observed issues with Gigabyte cards seems to be their inability to hold the fan at a relatively constant rating. Instead they can rapidly ramp up and down generating far greater noise. It might be worth trying something like setting the fan at a higher initial rating but with a more shallow gradient and see if that impacts noise to make sure it isn't the change in RPM that is causing the problem.

If nothing helps then perhaps take a recording and ask PCS what they think. The Gigabyte cards aren't especially quiet (possible a bit louder than the Zotax Trinity) but nor are they terrible. Perhaps there is a problem with the sleeve bearings.

Thank you very much for that, i will try a new curve to see . The zotac card would also push the hot air out the rear of the pc, you could feel it strongly if you put your hand there . The oc card is pushing nothing out the rear as far as i can tell , but its pushing all the hot air towards thw glass side panel . This of course means the hot air is not escaping well, not a good design .

All i have to go on is the zotac one which never got to the temps this one does, so fans not going at 90 percent, so less noise . Like i say i will try a different curve , but if not happy will have to call pcs . Only way i have managed to reduce it to bearable levels is by reducing power to 80 percent , but should not be needed ..

No matter if game is demanding or not the temps still rise till the fans are at 90 percent,
