What’s it for, what’s the budget and what monitor will you be using? The 11th Gen. Intel CPUs are not a good choice.

Hi thanks for replying.

It'll be used for a mix of gaming and general computing.
I'll be using two 1080p monitors for now. I realize that the GPU can support higher resolution monitors and later on down the line I'll look to get them. But for now I'll stick with what I have.
The budget is around €3,000.

Thanks for the feedback. Why is the 11th gen not a good choice?

As you're using euro's which country are you buying from (so we can get taxes and delivery stuff right)? Also when do you think you'll be upgrading the monitors and do you have some sort of budget in mind for that?

I'll let these thumbnails and videos speak for themselves. Luckuily with 12th gen being on a brand new platform it's a significantly better choice and currently topping the performance charts. If you wanted to stick with the Intel route, I'd be happy to recommend them

Thanks very much for this.
I’m buying from Ireland.
The budget for monitors is 800 to 1000, and I’d be looking to get these in a few months time.
I’m a little constrained with the space on my desk for monitors. I currently have two 23” and they fit nicely with not much remove for anything bigger.
So anything I get in the future would need to be similar size.

That’s very interesting on the intel 11th Gen. thanks for the feedback.

Brilliant, thanks for that info. Ideally for a PC of that budget, you'd be looking at a 4K 144hz monitor which simply doesn't come that small. The current monitor to go for in that segment is the Gigabyte M28U which, clue in the name is 28 inches. If you have the space for it, I'd highly recommend it, it'd be a huge shame to have such a great budget and have to stick with 1080p. The other option is to go for a single ultrawide like the Gigabyte G34WQC, which is the same height as a single 27 inch, just slightly wider.

As the 11th gen and 12th gen are on seperate configurators, you'll likely find yourself needing to contact support to edit the order. If you save the build as a quote then contact them, they're generally more accepting of people making the switch without losing theit place in the queue. On the build itself, I haven't added the blue cables to keep it closer to that budget, feel free to add them back if you're happy to pay the extra.

Case
COOLERMASTER MASTERBOX TD500 MESH ARGB GAMING CASE Sadly the 5000X is now out of stock, so gone for the TD500, a solid airflow case. You could always contact them and request to swap to the 5000X (which is the case I'd prefer between the two)
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i7 12-Core Processor i7-12700K (3.6GHz) 25MB Cache Budget wise, I reckon the 12700K fits pretty well into your budget
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4 (LGA1700, USB 3.2, PCIe 5.0) - ARGB Ready Solid DDR4 motherboard for Z690
Memory (RAM)
16GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 8GB) For a gaming build 16GB will be ample, plus it's an easy upgrade if you find you're needing more
Graphics Card
10GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 - HDMI, DP, LHR If you went down the ultrawide route, the 3070 or 70TI would be plenty of power
1st Storage Drive
2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 256MB CACHE Large HDD for bulk file storage
1st M.2 SSD Drive
500GB SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 6900MB/R, 5000MB/W) Smaller OS drive for Windows and applications
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB INTEL® 670p M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 3500MB/sR | 2500MB/sW) Seperate speedy games drive
External DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
8x Slim USB 2.0 External DVD-RW
Memory Card Reader
USB 3.0 EXTERNAL SD/MICRO SD CARD READER
Power Supply
CORSAIR 1000W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET
Power Cable
1 x 1 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling
Corsair H150i ELITE CAPELLIX RGB Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler The 12th gen are toasty CPU's so I'd recommend the top of the line cooler for the 12700K and 12900K
Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Card
10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT
USB/Thunderbolt Options
MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS This option adds more USB ports, do you really need more?
Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64 Bit - inc. Single Licence [KUK-00001] I'd personally stick to W10 while W11 is in it's infancy and having its bugs sorted out
Operating System Language
United Kingdom - English Language
