Computer crashes and fans spin like mad!

Hi all,

Recently my PC crashes not long after start up, the screen goes black and the fans go mad and start spinning so fast.

I can be watching something on YouTube and the PC will crash and fans will spin, i can however still hear the sound from the video while this happens.

Also when im playing a game, screen goes black, fans spin, but i can still hear the game.

I have to hold the power button to turn the machine off, i pull out the power cord for a min or two then plug it back in and seems to work fine after that.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

What graphics card do you have? Where did you get Windows and how did you install it? Have you ensured that all Windows updates have been installed including optional updates? Please provide a picture of your Windows Update screen. Where did you get your graphics drivers from and how did you install them? Have you made any changes recently (hardware or software)?

My graphics card is GTX 1080

I had Windows 10 on an SSD that i re-installed onto the NVMe.

Graphics drivers are from GeForce Experience, just update them as and when they come through.

No new hardware installed, software just games on Steam or Windows Store.

Sorry for delayed reply.

However i figure out the cause of this issue.

In my PC i have a NVMe and a separate SSD, i unplugged the SSD and have not had the issue since.

It appears the SSD was causing my PC to crash.

What would be the reason for this?
