    PCSPECIALIST The Windows Package Manager

One other point that tripped me up. The package manager cannot updates apps that are open. I had the Edge browser open whilst the winget upgrade --all was running and Edge was not updated, though it did update when I closed and restarted it.

    PCSPECIALIST The Windows Package Manager

There probably isn't a lot of point using winget to upgrade just one package, where it becomes really useful is that it can upgrade all packages with updates in one go. After upgrading 7-Zip then, I had 13 packages with updates... PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> winget upgrade Name...

    PCSPECIALIST The Windows Package Manager

I guess we all at one time or another wonder whether all our apps are up to date. Many apps do an auto update check, but often only when you start them, which means that apps you use only rarely need updating next time you use them. I have always been wary of third-party apps that claim to keep...

PCSPECIALIST Ongoing Issues with My High-End PC – Need Advice

I'm not saying it's your fault, I'm just pointing out the way things are. There is a reason why most of us on here use PCS to build a PC to our own spec, after taking advice from experts like @SpyderTracks - especially if you want a high-end gaming PC. TBH, if you were buying an office-type PC...

PCSPECIALIST Ongoing Issues with My High-End PC – Need Advice

I do sympathise but it's not just about Intel. It's never wise to buy a pre-built PC from anyone, because they are always built down to a price that's attractive. Typically they will contain a higher end CPU and GPU to attract buyers but the rest of the (essential) components are often only just...

The first thing I note is that there seem to be issues with a TrackIR device that you have, it seems to be missing drivers... Not Available USB\VID_131D&PID_0159\A&2A4825A6&0&10 The drivers for this device are not installed. Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)...

Does the panel think that Santa will get a state pension? I mean, he only works for one day each year, and nobody sees him working either? It sounds like benefit fraud to me....

This is going to come as something of a shock to many of you, so please be sure you're sitting down and not holding anything made of glass. Santa isn't real. I know, that came as a bit of a surprise. Whilst were at it the Tooth Fairy isn't real either. Or the Loch Ness monster - I'm not 100%...

    PCSPECIALIST Memory Hard Faults

Apologies, but I've only just seen this thread. When you were running the Resource Monitor did you note which processes were experiencing hard page faults? You can do that by clicking on the Hard Faults/sec header to sort the Memory display on that column. The processes experiencing hard page...

    PCSPECIALIST Just bonkers

When I lived aboard my yacht in the marina here I used to run the weekly Sunday BBQ. We bough charcoal locally in big 50kg bags. On the outside it' said "Made in Argentina". How can it be cheaper to ship burnt wood across the Atlantic than to just burn wood here? I later found out that they...
