I need some advice as I'm not sure what to do.
My pc never came on Saturday (well yodel claim it did and I wasn't there). I can't rearrange a standard weekday redelivery as I'll be at work. Should I be contacting pc specialist or yodel to get this resolved? I can't get through to pc specialist on the phone and they haven't answered my emails.
Thanks for any help.

It's probably best to go through PCS.

You can check their call waiting times here, since sometimes they are very busy. Emails normally take upto 2 days to get a response I believe.

I'd recommend going through PCS too. I had exactly the same issue last week - took 3 days off work in the end as they failed to deliver on time. I think the only way it got resolved was because PCS contacted the delivery depot directly and spoke to pretty much all the managers there (Matthew at PCS was awesome - thanks for sorting it out for me!!). I think if I'd gone via the Yodel customer services I would still be sat here waiting for my PC to arrive. They're beyond useless. It's not necessarily their fault either, they just don't seem to have any power to do anything - they can't contact the drivers, and can't even seem to contact the depots, short of emailing them.

Thanks for the advice. I managed to contact PCS in the end and hopefully it's been sorted out now. Will let you know how I get on on Friday!

Hi all. Thought I'd throw my 2 cents worth in.

I had a positive experience with Yodel. They delivered my packages on time and there was no damage to any of the boxes. I took delivery to my work address on a Friday. My office isn't easy to find but they asked a couple of other buildings and then found mine. I was dreading missing delivery because they couldn't find me, but all was OK.

I understand that not everyone has had a positive experience, but it would be nice to see a few more positive reviews to give others a well rounded view of the company.

Cheers.

The opening post says;

So, in your posts tell us what we can do in future to improve our service when deliveries do go wrong, tell us who your favourite courier is, tell us if you think a choice on courier on our configurator would be helpful, tell us anything that can help, but please don't simply say "change your delivery courier".

I think a choice of courier would be amazing, but is that really a practical option? From reading some of the reviews for Yodel, there seem to be alot of people who won't deal with them or any company who deals through them due to their experience.

There was one website which scored Yodel 1.1 stars out of 5, with a minimum rating of 1 star & it seemed all the 1,000+ reviews were negative. However many people have had perfectly fine experiences with them, myself included. My package was delivered earlier than expected, first thing in the morning. Everything worked right out the box.

I'm certain Yodel aren't the best courier service available, I think if PCS are to stick with them, then maybe something similar to what was suggested above could be an option.

An alternative courier service for an additional fee, if any is applicable, similar to the Saturday delivery concept. Customer pays for the additional cost of taking that option.

PCS could choose any courier in the UK & there are still going to be bad experiences, so it's hard to just advise them to switch to another service- but having the option to choose yourself, imo anyway - would take the negative light away from PCS.

I paid for the PCS Extra Care pre-10am delivery and it's out for delivery today... So they've got another 45 mins or so to deliver. About 25 mins ago I saw a white van drive up to right outside my flat, reverse and then drive away. I hope that wasn't them...

Edit:

Ok, so they got here at 9:55am... cutting it close, but at least they made it before 10 :)

Therefore I shall add that I have no problem with Yodel, they delivered when they said they would.

Wondering if anybody knows what this means?

"Held - Awaiting Booking-In Date"

That's the current status of my pc :O

The statuses on the Yodel tracking site are terrible in my opinion. In fact during my experience over three days trying to get my PC delivered I spoke to over 5 different people at Yodel, and each person seemed to have a different meaning for the various status updates. One woman even admitted that they were totally inaccurate! Might be worth PCS, if at all possible, petitioning Yodel to make the updates clearer.

Supposed to be getting m order before 12 noon today. Surprise Surprise YODEL havent even loaded it on to the van yet and the people working in the depots are none the wiser either.

PCS - I know there maybe the occasional issues with deliveries but from your customers on this forum YODEL are absolutely useless. They are causing your customers hassle, you hassle, because no doubt in 2 hours I will be ringing you for a refund on the delivery I have paid for. Is it not time to ditch them...?

Please be aware we send out over 500 packages a week. It is inevitable that delivery issues will occur. If you accept that maybe 25 problems occur with deliveries each week which is about 5% then this is about the industry average. We have used other couriers in the past and changed because we thought other providers might be better. We now know this not to be the case. If we changed provider, this thread would still get the same issue irrespective of who is delivering.

Simply look at review sites for major couriers, City-Link, UPS, Parcelforce, DPD, UPS, TNT ect. They all have appaling reviews. If you haver had an issue with delivery, then it is understandable that you feel frustrated and would urge us to move to a new provider. But in context, should we move if the vast majority are not having any delivery issues, and in all probability, we could move only to find the service is worse.

Seems as though a lot of your customers have issues with Yodel. Customers on here even saying that Yodel blatantly lied about attempting delivery. I've never known that before either. I've not had any experience with Yodel and not had a delivery go wrong this year, just luck I hear you say...is it?

Update: Just spoke to YODEL head office and they say my local depot do not even deliver on Saturday's......enough said.

Just out of interest, what courier did PCS use before? I've heard that City Link are pretty awful, but don't really know much about the others. My experience was similar to the poster above, Yodel barefaced lied about trying to deliver to my flat. Perhaps offering people the choice of another more reliable delivery company, even if it's more expensive, is the way to go.

Bottom line is,there isn't much PCS can do to improve the situation,
with any real guarantee.
They have already tried other couriers & yodel seems to be the best option.

We all ready offer the diamond service offered by yodel, which has a success rate in the very high 90's. Yet only a very few customers choose this because it costs money. If we offered another courer service which was more expensive, it would be the same story. At the end of the day the customer will in the main choose the cheaper option.

In hindsight, it is easy to say 'offer another service' because in hindsight if you have delivery issues you would have chosen it. However without hindsight you along with almost everyone else will choose the best value option.

For info, our last courier was City-Link. We changed from them because their service standards plummeted when they underwent a merger with target express.

Sorry have to disagree. People should be provided the option of courier. The option they choose the more likely they will live with. Perception in this case is everything and as far as I can see no skin off PCS's nose. As I said, I've never heard of a courier to lie until I'd come across YODEL.

Update on above, I asked the guy how yodel were able to deliver to a yodel branch without it being open, his response....I don't know.

Poorest show I've seen/heard of by a courier and I've ordered a hell of a lot of ebuyer, I know they use city link, sure there might be the occasional bad view, but never seen the quantity of bad reviews as I have for yodel, I really feel PCS need to so something about it as it will tarnish there rep. Please..please offer a choice.

I've never actually seen any company provide a choice of couriers, each tend to use just one courier company surely?
