Glad to hear you got your PC ok JaM1e. I've been having a nightmare experience, customer service at Yodel is unbelievably bad. The guys at PCS have been much more helpful and professional, trying to organise a redelivery of my PC, that was supposed to be here yesterday. They even tried speaking to the manager of the service depot (thanks Matthew), however I get the feeling the staff there either don't care or are just lying to PCS. I was told my PC would be redelivered today, but nothing. Ringing the customer service centre and they don't even know where the PC is! I suggested to them that it might have been lost, and they agreed with me!!! I've had to take two days off work and it's been completely wasted time. Terrible experience so far and I haven't even got the PC.

Un-believable. I've been sat outside my flat for the past hour. 10 minutes ago I check the delivery status and it says "no one to receive card left". What a joke! They've blatantly just lied about it. The call centre is next to useless to and has apparently very little power to do anything except arrange a redelivery tomorrow, which means I have to take another day off work. It's really disgusting to be honest. PCS really need to reassess what company they use. I really wouldn't have minded paying a bit more on top of my order if I'd have the reassurance that the delivery would be made properly.

Again completely not the point of thsi thread, the point was not to have a go at PCS but to offer suggestions. If you know of something PCS can do, other than just switching company, then feel free to suggest. I can guarantee you though, that if they used a different courier, on average, as many people would complain about poor service. Its just the way things go.

I feel your pain cadence because exactly the same happened to me. I even paid to have mine delivered so i didnt have to take time off. In the end i went to their depot because i didnt trust they could deliver on time. Seen several others with the same problem of being in and them just not turning up saying there was no answer. You at least expect a phone call if they cant make the delivery and some form of apology. No just a straight out lie.

I just hope it turns up tomorrow...

And Frenchy I wasn't having a go at PCS, as you'll see from my other post they have been very helpful, trying to arrange redelivery with the depot. However you're right in that a rant is a bit off topic. I think one thing I'd suggest is that they ensure closer ties with the Yodel, for example, having the direct numbers of managers, so they can escalate issues quickly.

Haven't had my delivery yet; just had a laptop built; very impressed with the speed of the build! It was sat at awaiting dispatch, so I called to see if I could alter delivery to Sat. Was told Yodel don't do Saturday deliveries to my area! (Livingston, right between Glasgow and Edinburgh) I'm hardly out in the sticks, and I'd suggest that if you're going to offer a Saturday delivery, you at least use a courrier who can deliver on a Saturday!

I was supposed to get my laptop as of today, and enjoy it for the weekend.

Yodel apparently is one of few companies left in response who don't even bother to let you know or give you a call to ask you when you are available, or warn you about the exact delivery times.

"sup im yodel, imma deliver anytime of the day and expect you're home at Friday 12PM", stupid idiots

Now I'm going to have to wait 2 days for another weekday delivery.

Hence http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews251651.html , no wonder.

You sound like an idiot as much as your making them out to be. They clearly state their delivery times, you clearly accepted delivery for within those times, its up to you to make sure your in. That is not Yodels problem. The big problem with giving estimates as to when they will deliver is that when they are wrong, given traffic and other factors, thsi si a great possibility, customer then start complaining that its messed up their day etc etc. If you cant egt the day off you can get saturday delivery to msot places (not all) but you can also pick up from the depot. You could also have had it delievered to your work address. Theres many possibilities, however shouting about how you can't be in when they have said they will deliver is not a brilliant idea and will msot deffinately not get you anywhere.

To meet half way, we have now introduced two new delivery services. These are still carried out by Yodel but travel on a different network, offer better levels of insurance (for us) and are timed deliveries (pre 10, pre 12):

PCS EXTRA-CARE DIAMOND DELIVERY - MON-FRI, PRE-12PM (£9)
PCS EXTRA-CARE DIAMOND DELIVERY - MON-FRI, PRE-10AM (£15)

For all those who want the best delivery service possible we recommend you select one of these packages. :)

Jup, I'm an idiot.

Their delivery times are 9-5 workdays with no deliveries on weekends(hence everyone picks their parcels on weekdays, im such an idiot), without any prior notice, not even a text message saying there's half an hour to your delivery or something they assume I'll be sitting at my porch doing nothing else but waiting for them.
And I'm most certainly going to take my laptop / desktop box in a car where it probably won't even fit, or carry it under my pit like a rooster.no

Stop thinking of excuses for one of the most pathetic parcel delivery providers out there, they are just garbage.I don't even know why PCS is even related to them, in regards of the quality difference both of the brands provide. This is like DELL using random 3rd world country delivery.

That's most certainly one of the reasons why I'm an idiot, and they're so well rated in the UK.

To be honest all couriers have their issues, and unfortunately some people suffer, though this would happen no matter which delivery company you used.
Do note however that most of their deliveries are perfectly fine (for example, I've had 3 deliveries from PCS through DHL/Yodel in the last year and they've always delivered on the right day, and the timed one (before 10am) arrived well before 10 at 8:15)

It's difficult to say how they compare really. All I can say is that my experience with Yodel's customer service has been atrocious. I gave up speaking to them in the end and just dealt directly with PCS who were brilliant and able to communicate with managers at the depot directly. Online reviews of these couriers are always misleading though as people are far less likely to post a positive review when the company simply does the job it was paid to do. However, Frenchy, I really think you need to stop making excuses for them. That kind of attitude is one of the reasons we have such poor service in the UK. If we tolerate it, nothing will change.

I've lived in Scotland for around twelve years now, and at no point in the past have I ever had a problem ordering either a Saturday delivery or timed weekday delivery; yesterday at 3:30 I was able to order a SSD for example, and get it delivered (for around £8) this morning (Saturday). No problem. I've entered various Edinburgh and Glasgow postcodes into the Delivery checker, and it appears that Yodel just don't do timed (i.e. next day) deliveries or Saturday deliveries to Scotland. Personally I find this staggering; as I said, this has never been a problem with any other company I've ordered from in the past.

Rather annoyingly, I'd paid the extra £19 for next-day delivery (I hadn't realised at this point that there was a delivery checker - it just never occured to me that I wouldn't be able to get a next-day delivery); this was included and paid for in my bill. I'm now in a position where I have an order that has been dispatched, no idea when it'll turn up, and will have to wait at home during the next few days for a delivery which I have no idea when it will arrive. Needless to say, after paying over £1500 on a computer, I'd expect a much better delivery service.

What I'd suggest is the ability to allow a choice of delivery supplier; and also move the charge for delivery through to the end of the billing process; that way once the order is ready it'll prevent people ordering a service they can't get (i.e. the money I've spent on delivery could have gone on an upgraded network card, for example). At the very least, allow the user to enter their postcode on the 'build' screen so only deliveries that are available can be displayed; after all, if I add a part that is no longer available, you warn me. Why not the same for deliveries?

I'm just simply stunned that after spending a small fortune (to me, anyway), I now have an order that I can't track with no idea when it'll be delivered.

can i ask why you cant track it. When an order is dispatched all customers are sent the tracking details.

I've received no e-mail stating that it was dispatched with an order number, and the only dispatch available to me (according to the tracking site) is "STANDARD INSURED DELIVERY TO UK MAINLAND (MON-FRI)"

The postcode checker shows

Delivery Options
We can offer the following delivery options to your post code:

STANDARD INSURED DELIVERY TO UK MAINLAND (MON-FRI)

And my order status shows:
Your Orders
Order Date Processed Status Production Time Tracking NO's Actions
xxxxxx13-10-2011 @ 14:40:16 Order Dispatched 1 working day N/A Show

(Sorry, for some reason the image uploader isn't letting me upload images).

Can I join the "not a fan of Yodel" club?
I paid for Saturday morning delivery and the tracking still says "Out for delivery" at 16:17. Given up hope now :( Really wanted my new computer this weekend!

The Yodel Saga continues

I have been using parcel delivery for a long time , unfortunately I decided to use Yodel, and guess what happenend, , I waited in on the Monday , when all of a sudden, I found a card miraculously pushed through the door to say we could not collect the package as you were not in !
Luckily I have CCTV installed, and recorded the delivery man arrive at 13.52, and leave 45 seconds later, after negotiating a 40 foot driveway ( back & fore) and the writing of the nobody at home card,
Impossible to contact, these people direct but arranged for a further pick up the next day.
I waited in again, and even after repeated reminders to the organisers, Parcels 2 GO. Yodel again did not pick up, but it was comforting to know, it was registered as out for collection
But yet again , no collection .
A complaint was made through the organisers, which has provided no feedback.
The package was finally picked up on the third day by City Link, no problem

Personally I would never use or consider these idiots again, I know these decisions are out of your hands when ordering on line etc, but if enough people ask when ordering who the couriers are, and tell them of your concerns , I am sure after enough requests they will change the carrier.
Alone we do not stand a chance

Well, apart from not able to track my parcel, and no Saturday delivery, etc...I'm actually impressed! Arrived this morning about five minutes ago! Superb! :)
