The New Xbox. XBOX ONE

It seems that microsoft have gone back on many of their policies due to the feedback from gamers

No more always online requirement
The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
Region locks have been dropped

Seems like a complete U-turn, although I still prefer the PS4 due to it being more powerful, cheaper, no kinect and has better exclusives

do we have a source for this mate?

Annnnnnnnnd we're back to level pegg...

...*falls to the ground in shock*

They really did have to do that though didn't they. There will be some that won't "forgive" them (lol, its a console ya muppets) but its now at least going to be interesting again instead of the vehicular manslaughter that it was going to be :)

That, or the super secret Sega Uber Juipter Expert System Drive will blow them both out of the water! Or was I not meant to be mention that...hmmmm

I knew they would do something about it as even they could see just how bad the feedback was, i cant wait for it though, new console, new games, should be good :)

If you intend to buy a PS4, you lose all rights and privileges to criticise those intending to buy an Xbone :)

All MS did was make it easier for Sony to be the "good guys" for once :)

Because they have said that some features have been removed, as far as i can tell they have removed the sharing to family library, Discs need to be in the machine even if installed on the hard drive and games always with you.

It now acts like the 360 which is no bad thing but i still felt that what they were proposing was the way forward.

Until they sort out the mess of Kinect I think everyone can criticise the Xbox 180 :D

What's wrong with Kinect? The fact it always watches you? Nobody minds though when it's your phones front facing camera or the built in webcam on your laptops ;) When my brother got a virus on his laptop they hacked into his webcam and took a picture of him.

Yes, kinect is in your living room normally and listening to every word you say but you could quite easily cover it over x) My only worry is that they focus too much on kinect... I have a small house so space is a bit of a luxury for me.

On another note, does anybody remember a while ago Microsoft announced it's projection software that would expand your game boundaries outside of your tv screen and onto the surrounding walls? Has anybody heard if this is going to be an Xbone feature or was it all just rumours originally that haven't developed?

I have covered my laptop front facing camera up :) Paranoia struck when I was video chatted at work (through microsoft lync) and the camera booted up before I managed to click 'decline'. Not sure if the other person managed to see through it but I didn't like that ... As for my phone, its typically not looking at me unless im using it, so thats not really an issue. It's not randomly snapping pictures of me while im watching the TV (as it'll be in my pocket or on the table etc.).

Although saying that, I'm not fussed about the kinect watching people, I can't see me getting one so it won't be watching me!

About the I posted that Illumiroom feature on here https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?25212-Microsoft-IllumiRoom-concept-Backlighting-in-general I think its currently still in the design stages and won't be a native feature for the xboxone. I'm tempted to say it was purely a proof of concept thing (reading the research page) so it might never actually become a reality, but I do hope it does. And I hope its not a native to xbox item as I think that sort of thing would be ace for many applications (PC's included)!

Haha was just copying that link at the very minute you posted it Grimez :)

Is rather apt timing isn't it.

I do think people should go further though. Don't cover your webcam...aim it at something either horrible, or something that just looks that way when viewed at a funny angle on a rubbish camera...that'll show em! :D

kinnect is a complete waste of money, mainly because you need a room the size of a tennis court to use it.

Aha I was thinking that, plus it's finding the space (non-existent in my case) for the camera itself.

I still think the damage is done to MS now, Sony have all the momentum behind them and this feels a bit like too little too late. These changes are much improved but it's such a major U-turn it just makes them look completely out of touch.

Gamers forget (though maybe not wholly forgive) more easily than you think.

I think one of our great leaders said it best:

That's a bit different to illumiroom I would say, it's more like Phillips amibilight televisions or cyborg gaming lights. Still very cool idea though.
