GTX 1080 SLI teaser: http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/Teaser-GTX-1080s-Tested-SLI-EVGA-SC-ACX-30

Perhaps more interesting than the SLI teaser itself is the fact that they're using a so-far unreviewed card, the GTX 1080 SC by EVGA - it's the second card in the below.
heaven-oc-.png

Those temps. I guess the load can't be 100%, but still...

MSI one shows a ~12 degrees improvement: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_1080_gaming_x_8g_review,9.html
Asus Strix does similarly: http://www.computerbase.de/2016-05/asus-geforce-gtx-1080-strix-oc-test/4/

Obviously there are plenty of other questions like the power limit still hanging there but from a cooling point of view alone this is good to see.

Just received the bridge from PCS.

Now which connectors do I use on the bridge, and connect to which connections on the cards ?

My primary card which will be connected to the monitor will be in slot one.

I am presuming I use the double connectors on the bridge.

Ack, answered my own question, it will only plug in one way, DOH ! (I'll leave this post up anyway).

Anyway don't think this is the proper Nvidia bridge, (Maybe a universal bridge), I still don't think the Nivdia one's out yet......... (And there's a small connector in the middle on the care that won't be connected to anything, but I can't find a picture of he connections on the Nvidia GTX1080 bridge.

Just a standard quad bridge. 1080s still use the same connector as previous cards.

aren't the new sli bridges suppose to improve performance?

Yes it is a special (High performance) bridge

"NVIDIA’s new SLI HB bridge doubles the available transfer bandwidth compared to the NVIDIA Maxwell™ architecture. Delivering silky-smooth gameplay, it’s the best way to experience surround gaming—and it’s only compatible with the GeForce GTX 1080."

Actually there's 3 connectors on the card that wouldn't be connected with a standard bridge.

The new high performance bridge is only 2 cards compatible, you have to use the old adapter for more than 3 and the scaling won't be as good.

It's only 2 card SLI, the 3rd cards for my sons PC

From what I've read 3 card SLI is going out of fashion.

But the pictured bridge is an old quad SLI one and I don't think will take advantage of the new performance even if you are just using 2. I may be wrong but I think you need the specific new adapters.

I just can't find the new bridge anywhere, and on the 1080 website it just say's "Notify me", the same as the 1080 before it was available.

So I guess it's just not about yet.

I think you're right, it's not on general release yet unfortunately.

Worth watching out for the EVGA version also, looks pretty good.

Another thing you guys will be able to advise me on, memory, foolishly when I bought the PC I only specified 12GB of ram (12GB KINGSTON HYPER-X TRI-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (3 x 4GB KIT).

I would like to up that to 16GB minimum or more.

The motherboard manual is a bit confusing, there's 6 slots in 2 different colours, can I fill all slots ? (But maximum is 24GB) so 6 x 4GB

The motherboard is an ASUS® RAMPAGE III EXTREME: 3-Way SLI & CrossFireX, SATA 6.0GB/s, USB 3.0

I have used to detector on the Corsair (Kingston) website, but I'm still confused.

Any help of course would be appreciated.

That's triple channel board. You're better off filling the 3 slots so your only real upgrade option is 24GB by using 3x 8GB sticks or adding another 3x 4GB sticks.

GTX1080's up and running, no problems.

They run cool, less noise than the old 580's.

Just have to wait for the proper HB bridge now, still not released.
