oh and, the laggy behaviour is not gone.
i started the game and every other app is slow as hell, this is abnormal, i repeat abnormal, as it did not lag when i'm playing in teh past. hell even palying music is impossible when playing, the game freezes if i leave a youtube video running in the background at 144p (YES. 144p)

edit: gameplay is beyond terrible with stupid levels of lag and freezing, even chrome and edge have become unresponsive so reinstalling windows eliminates any software problems, i presume

we know it’s not normal, that’s why we’re troubleshooting.

This is what windows troubleshooting is all about. You have to go through basic steps to identify where the error is.

Just out of interest, where did you install the game from?

an update, re-installing the graphics driver on geforce experience and restarting the laptop seems to have stopped the laggy behaviour for now

With troubleshooting there are only 2 basic parts:

1. identify the problem. This is the most important thing and will often naturally lead to a solution, but if not, at least you know the cause so you can effectively communicate with 3rd party support (PCS) for their benefit.

2. Implement a solution. Again, this is easier than most people assume and normally means googling a few basic things:

description of symptoms, or error code if given.

If you see a problem and just focus on that being a problem rather than step by step working towards a solution you’re not going to get anywhere.

I have to be honest, I don’t think a custom laptop is going to be best for you. You’re going to have to troubleshoot a lot! Often there are buggy windows updates which cause issues, you’ll have to take the laptop apart regularly to clean it and repaste it.

When I asked for a link to the game client it was to identify you are downloading from a reliable source. Furthermore it was to identify how you installed the game, if it was from a backup or actually by redownloading it fresh which is what you need to do.

These are all very basic troubleshooting steps that you’re going to have to understand if you’re going to get the most out of that laptop.

thank you for explaining that. i reinstalled the game. was a nightmare this monster is 117 gb.
and i believe its a reliable source, there's only one rockstar games launcher on their website. and i made sure i didnt visit a typo-style fake website :)
i've followed your instructions on problem identification so far.
edit: not sure whether googling "laptop slowing down when i play games" will do much, you know. i didnt find an error code either as everything appears as though its okay at the surface.

That was the gentle intention. Don’t panic, don’t see it as a problem, but rather an opportunity to work to a solution and learn in the process.

It does take some learning, but it’s fun and evermore useful in all areas of life. And you’ll get an awful lot more out of gaming because it will lead you into mods and custom hacks which in itself is another league to pc gaming.

ITS OFFICIALLY PANIC TIME.
midway through my game i got black-screened except the mouse, and when i restarted the game app a quarter of the screen was flickering a black-grey blotch.
i'm not literally gonna panic, but i'll call PCS about it asap. ive taken a video in case i need to email any evidence
