PCSPECIALIST Do I need to change my chosen monitor on my ordered build?

The monitor your are describing is 27" 1440p and doesn't need a 3080Ti. You could probably use a 3060Ti and save some money. You will need a big budget for a monitor that doesn't throttle the 3080Ti. Going with a lesser monitor just wastes money and if you are going to change this in a couple...

PCSPECIALIST Desktop to run P3D v4 Flight Sim

As we know, some people can adjust their budget to achieve what they want. However, money needed for rent / mortgage, food, utilities and other essentials should not be used to buy a pc used for recreational purposes.

PCSPECIALIST Desktop to run P3D v4 Flight Sim

I have improved the motherboard, storage and PSU to what we would normally specify for this type of build, but that extends the budget a bit further. I am not familiar with the specific software you mention.

    PCSPECIALIST Test operating system installed?

To me it looks like your attempted install of Windows on the desktop has not worked for some reason. Did you perform a clean install of Windows or try to activate the test system with your key? The latter is not recommend and has caused problems for a number of buyers. Where did you source your...

PCSPECIALIST Planned Rig - Looking for rate/advice.

How is that £4 cheaper than the 2nd build from @sck451 ? The only change I can see is a bigger power supply.

PCSPECIALIST Mini ITX Build - Advice

That build needs a lot of change. What is your budget? A small form case is not a good idea with the 5800x, as it runs hot. This type of case will also limit other options. As well as the case, the motherboard, RAM, GPU, storage, PSU and cooling need attention.

    PCSPECIALIST Perfect Breakfast

The trouble with the French breakfast is that it is all carbohydrate and caffeine. Half an hour after eating it, I would be hungry again. This is one area where French cuisine falls well behind the best of British- a full English with high quality sausages, bacon and black pudding.

    PCSPECIALIST Perfect Breakfast

The west coast of Scotland has very fresh seafood. I have had some really fresh langoustines, direct from the creel fisherman and cooked in water from the sea loch they were caught in. Scotland really is schizophrenic about food. We have deep fried Mars Bars and pizzas and mince and tattles...

    PCSPECIALIST Perfect Breakfast

Another option, but possibly more for lunch is hand dived scallops, Stornoway black pudding, smoked streaky bacon and garlic butter. We had this in the Applecross Inn (other eateries are available) and it was great. There can be a bit of a queue to get in (at least before lockdown), but you do...

    PCSPECIALIST Perfect Breakfast

Definitely needs to be smoked, but back bacon is also good. We have a local producer of bacon that is really good. Naked Toad is very smoky and tastes fantastic - makes a great bacon sandwich.

    PCSPECIALIST Perfect Breakfast

The trouble with buffet breakfasts is quantity over quality. Sausages and bacon are worth paying more for. Buffet black pudding can be like frisbees. I have had too many of these breakfasts over the years while away on business.

PCSPECIALIST Thoughts on this £2000 gaming build?

New consoles are 8 core, so games are likely to be designed for this going forwards. The 3070Ti gives very little benefit of the 3070 for the price difference. GPUs are easier to upgrade than CPUs and you will likely need to change the GPU in the future anyway. For 1440p you could actually drop...

PCSPECIALIST New PC, worried about heat/sound

We match the motherboard to the CPU. Higher spec CPUs need better voltage regulation, so 5800x with TUF X570, 5900x with ROG STRIX X570. 5950x with Crosshair Hero. The first M.2 drive is for OS and programmes and needs to be as fast as possible. It also needs to be kept as empty as possible to...

    PCSPECIALIST Perfect Breakfast

For a smoked fish with egg breakfast, I prefer smoked salmon, poached egg and hollandaise sauce- on toast or a bagel. That is my usual start to the day on Christmas Day.

PCSPECIALIST Thoughts on this £2000 gaming build?

How about this with a stronger CPU and still excellent for 1440p? Case CORSAIR 4000D AIRFLOW TEMPERED GLASS GAMING CASE Processor (CPU) AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Eight Core CPU (3.8GHz-4.7GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4) Motherboard ASUS® TUF X570-PLUS GAMING WIFI (USB 3.2 Gen 2, PCIe 4.0, CrossFireX) - RGB Ready...

PCSPECIALIST PC for WFH (academic simulations) and light gaming

Do you have any other drives, as 256GB is very small nowadays? Light games won’t need 32Gb of RAM. What applications are you using for work? Will they benefit from 8 cores. It seems odd to pick a CPU with in-built graphics and then specify a separate low spec graphics card. With a low budget it...

PCSPECIALIST New PC, worried about heat/sound

Or with a 5900x. I have left in the braided cables, keyboard and mouse. You will probably get a better choice and deal on the keyboard and mouse elsewhere.
