    PCSPECIALIST Desktop upgrade advice

Worth noting that if you upgrade your GPU, you're also going to have to upgrade your Power Supply because these newer cards use more power. 16GB is fine, although we usually recommend 32GB these days. Upgrading to a faster RAM would be beneficial and 3200MHz is very slow these days, but your...

    PCSPECIALIST £3K gaming pc issues

There is no fix, that's the point. You could swap the CPU out for another one, but it's almost certain that you'll have the same problem. As it's an Intel build, you can only choose another Intel CPU due to the socket on your motherboard. Changing to AMD would require a motherboard change, so...

    PCSPECIALIST £3K gaming pc issues

Unfortunately, it's a known, widespread problem with the 13th/14th Gen Intel CPU's. https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/intel-13th-and-14th-gen-confirmed-defective.96599/ There isn't a definite 'fix' as such, but Intel have released a microcode update that slows down the degradation...

    PCSPECIALIST Gaming Laptop

Everyone has a budget, whether it's £1,000 or £4,000. We could almost spec anything, but without some kind of parameter, it's impossible to get right.

Is this a PC Specialist system? If so, can you post the full spec from your orders page? Thanks.

PCSPECIALIST Help for a pc gaming noob please 🙏

I think there is, but the gap between the motherboard and front fans always looks so big that it feels like the space needs to be filled.

You're just left with a gaping space without them. Aesthetically you definitely 'need' them. ;)

PCSPECIALIST Will this play both Dragon Veil Guard and Baldurs Gate 3 at least at high ( ultra ?)

That's almost exactly where I got to, save for a different case and a Windows key.

PCSPECIALIST Any issues with this build?

I'm not sure of the link you're seeing between the CPU and the GPU

PCSPECIALIST Any issues with this build?

With the new 50-series GPU's coming out imminently, it's not a bad time to wait for a high end card anyway.

PCSPECIALIST Any issues with this build?

What will the PC be used for? Just gaming or other tasks as well? What is your max budget? A "decent budget" doesn't give us any information at all. We could spec something for £4K or £1,500. What monitor will you be using with the build?

PCSPECIALIST Will this play both Dragon Veil Guard and Baldurs Gate 3 at least at high ( ultra ?)

You're going to struggle to get something for that budget. I can't do it in the configurator without compromising on a number of components. Closest I can get is £1,553.00. Generally these days, we advise that £1500 is the minimum budget for a custom PC, and even then it's low, entry level...

PCSPECIALIST Will this play both Dragon Veil Guard and Baldurs Gate 3 at least at high ( ultra ?)

That would depend. In 4K? No. In 1080p, more likely. I wouldn't get that build though. Intel 14th Gen CPU's are broken out the box, even with the microcode update they've released to slow down to the degradation. Here's the official line from PCS on it...

PCSPECIALIST Second opinion is always appreciated :)

This thread is an absolute car crash. Could you post your current specs in a new post (not edit a previous one) so we can see what we're working with.

That build looks like you've gone "this is my budget so I have to max it out". £3.5k on a 1440p is crazy. You could save yourself a grand and get a 4k setup, with the extra thousand on a new 4K monitor.

    PCSPECIALIST My First Gaming Laptop

Even without the thermal throttling, you’re going to struggle to get any real performance out of that GPU when gaming, taking into the consideration the game of course. AAA Games these days are using more and more processing power and the 4GB you’ve got is nowhere near enough. We’re getting to...

PCSPECIALIST need advice first time build

You've made the build that FigmentOfYourImagination made worse by saving money on a cooler to upgrade your motherboard, then tried to lessen the effect of said change by adding extra case fans. If you're going to use the extra USB ports the motherboard offers then great, get that one, but not at...
