I thought I'd start a Greek language course. For lesson #1 what message do you think the following Greek sentence is trying to convey?

Close, although I can't write the literal translation on here because μαλακασ is a word that wouldn't be allowed on here - let's say it stands for 'idiot' (which is the form in which it's being used here). The literal translation then is 'the idiot of the day'.

I know I've shared some of the curious translations that Google Translate manages when translating Greek into English before, but this one made me smile this morning....

Meeting for the creation of a waterway

and aquatic fields in Agios Nikolaos


It sounds quite interesting doesn't it? I know what a waterway is, but 'aquatic fields'? What might they be?

Further reading revealed that the meeting was with Hellenic Seaplanes about creating a seaplane connection (and landing/take off area) between Agios Nikolaos and other Aegean Islands. So that's what 'aquatic fields' are. Thanks Google! :censored:
