A little bit more cheaper now..

Im going to give you my very honest and straight answer.

that spec is very nice, BUT total overkill and in my opinion out of balance.

- for gaming on one screen at 120fps, 4 gpus? why? there is honestly no need at all! Do you plan to go surround?
- to reach your your budget, it looks like you have chosen the most expensive parts going, but missed out others that would give you a better experience!
- no need for that cpu, Ivy i5 or i7 would have been perfect for gaming!
- crap headset and no soundcard? like watching a blu ray with no surround sound?
- only a year warranty? this would be one thing i would upgrade.
- overclocking? no need for 2133mhz ram, thats just daft.
- mobo, why have you chose this? honestly why? lol the features?

as i said, honest and straight.

Fair enough Tom, I would go for Ivy bridge definetly if it had the Rampage IV motherboard in there.

The Rampage is a great mobo but only useful if you want to try some extreme overclocking (potentially not recommended if you aren't confident), the other features are found on most (if not all) high end boards.

Agree with Tom, not really sure why you need the rampage extreme.

I am planning to overclock my CPU to maybe 4.6 Ghz, when I get it I saw a few videos on overclocking and it looks pretty simple, I might consider changing to the Sabertooth x79 mobo...

It is pretty easy imo but you need to be careful you don't damage anything - did you consider a pre-overclocked system? Would save you the hassle and you'd be covered for the overclock under warranty?

Not compared it myself but I cant imagine it being that much more expensive - besides it would pay dividends should you have any issues with the overclock down the line (warranty and support) - Besides if you are spending the sort of cash you were looking at the minor increase from the pre-overclock shouldn't make a large difference!

Not that I'm advocating spending more money of course, its still going to be overkill. It's your decision at the end of the day though (and your mothers money).

Haha, I'm going to get the Rampage IV anyways..

I'll also overclock myself..

I don't think there is a significant difference in price when purchasing a pre-overclocked system, with either the i7-3820 or the i7-3930k you can overclock them with any motherboard in the configurator not only the rampage iv extreme. At the end of the day it is your choice and if you are happy with your configuration go for it but it is still overkill and not value for money imo.

To be honest mate you don't really need any more advice, you've had so much advice and help already, so many people who are alot more knowledgeable and older than you have suggested perfectly reasonable, and much more realistic ideas! Yet you choose to ignore them and just waste peoples time, you've had builds suggested of around £1500 £2100 and £4500, If you want spend all of your parents hard earned money just for the sake of them offering it to you, go ahead. Just choose a build now, go along with it, and promise yourself you wont make any more changes when, or more like if you buy it.

Given that your budget seems to be on a use-it-or-lose-it basis, you might want to consider spending the remaining £100 on say fast track build, or a better warranty, or even some speakers.

You might also want to get a pack of earplugs because it's going to be quite noisy :walkman:

I have just read through all 13 pages of this. As someone commenting who has given no advice and is just an observor... I have to say that you are the most ridiculous person in the world.

Firstly, I have a pet hate for people that spend all their parents money. You claim you have worked hard for it, then why is it not in your savings account and instead it is coming from mummy? Secondly, mummy must have got some idea from you as to how much money you'd need for a pc. My mum would guess they cost around £500, she was shocked when she found out I was spending my money on a £1000 rig as she had no idea they cost that much. Thirdly, I don't know how old you are but if I was being given £4500, I would be asking for a car or for it to be put into a savings account for a car. Fourthly, you will never learn the value of money when you realise that £4500 is a huge amount of money to spend on a pc that you haven't even earnt. Fifthly (are these even words anymore?), if it was my mum, I would be getting constant grief as when you turn it on the first time and she watches you use her £4500, her reaction will be "is that it?" and you will spend years explaining to her why it was worth spending £4500 on a computer to play BF3 when you could spend £1000 and get an identical version. My mum gives me grief about mine and it wasn't even her money that I spent, it was my money that I'd earnt from working 9:00-5:30pm monday to friday.

At the end of the day it's up to you. I know it's a one-off treat and she's given you £4500 but I don't know where she's got that figure from and why she feels you need to spend that much to buy a computer. If she runs a business, she should see that there are much more important things to save for such as a car or university especially with today's fees. Obviously you're an only child and spoilt rotten as I have friends very similiar to you who don't pay rent, car insurance, etc and then go out and spend £600 on custom wheels for their Volkswagen Lupo's. I just think you're extremely daft and shouldn't have even posted on these forums. You asked for advice yet when people who have helped thousands of people try to help you blatantly ignore it and still go for an overkill machine. I'd personally go for Tiberius's/Tom's build for around £2000 (can't remember which)but that's just my opinion. I spent £1015 on mine, i5 processor, 8gb ram, 2gb GTX 670 and it runs everything perfectly on my 32 inch lcd tv but if you really want to see those specs of dust fall off the trees in battlefield then sure, go spend £4500.:santa:

Rant over.

P.s. please don't go for fast track so that we can have 9-11 working days of your mum chasing where the computer is and why her money has been spent with nothing to show for it.
