Thing is, if they take too long, it'll just slip into irrelevant territory and they won't get the sales to back up the time spent making it. Not overly bothered as I haven't been a GTA fan for years (main reason of course being the lack of PC releases :) ), but be good to see us get some love!

. Seriously hope the port is a better effort than GTA IV was though, hopefully the long wait will be worth it.

I've just finished playing GTAIV on PC after having played it when it first came out on PS3.
The only shortcoming on the PC version that I encountered is that you have to turn off v-synch otherwise load times are enormous. That doesn't seem a reason to say it was bad port to me (I didn't try online).
It was quite bizarre playing PC GTA IV, having very recently been playing V online. On the one hand the graphics were a bit more basic, but they were rendered with a great deal more clarity than GTAV on console, and there was better lighting. I thought the writing in IV was better and the radio stations were loads better than V.

Until games become something very different to what we have now, I think GTAV on PC will still be just as relevant if it has kept up with the technical standards of the time.
But you do have a point that if they put a lot of effort into it with not a lot of content change, it wouldn't be economical.
There is a school of thought that a PC release would coincide with it being re-released on the new consoles, and I could see they might want to wait a bit to do that.

I'n not counting on there ever being a PC release of V though.

Yeah it's okay now, after all of the patches (it took well over a year for it to be patched up to the vesion it's at now). On 2008 hardware it didn't run well at all - it's got a bit of a rep for being one of the worst ports of all time.

Agreed, the GTA V music was massively disappointing. For me Vice City and San Andreas had by far the best soundtracks of the series.

Finally. Loved this game on the 360, spent hours playing it.
Any ideas what spec this might require, I hope my laptop can play it.

That school turned out to be right!

'The current community of players will have the ability to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PS4, Xbox One or PC'
Cool.

Gameseek are stating the release date as 07/11/2014. Also offering the PC version pre order at £24.75.

I guess it's time to sell my PS3 copy.

Well it depends if they port the 360/PS3 version or the updated version, or both for better graphics option. If its an old console port then it will be 8800GT or something like that which is equivalent to 360/PS3 and a very old card. Providing your laptop has something like 650m or above, you wont have a problem.

And personally I'm looking forward to this game, I thought this actually looked pretty impressive on 360 despite its old hardware so could look much better on PC.

Is that a UK date or US date. Makes about 4 months difference...

I have the GTX 780M, I'm fairly new to PC gaming, as I've been console gaming mainly for the past 7-8 years. Unsure as to what will work with what...

Bang goes my plan to install it on the SSD to reduce those annoying map zoom out/zoom in character switch load times. Tossers. And the delay AGAIN? Christ. GTA6 will probably be out on PS4 before this comes out on PC.

Wonder what they 'recommend' for playing it 4k...
