I'll be getting 73-80 fps in RDR2 online, but whenever another player approaches or I fire a weapon the FPS tanks. and it tanks HARD. Down to 24fps, Friggin 8 FPS, and the screen freezes for one second, then it gows back to normal only for it to repeat. THis started right now. When i was playing in the morning fps only dropped to 40-50 but it was smooth, now this stuttering(?) is getting extreme.
Please help!

Have you checked your server connection? What's the latency?

In addition to the advice from SpyderTracks re your temps, I see that you have a 512GB SSD as the sole drive. How full is that drive?

In addition, are you using a WiFi connection to your router or a cable connection? If you're using WiFi then try a temporary cable connection to eliminate WiFi as the cause (which it could well be).

Who else in your home is using the same router as you at the same time? What download speeds do you get?

There are so many things that could cause these lags, it's a process of elimination really. Since it's a laptop then SpyderTracks suggestion of checking your temps under Prime95 loads is a good place to start.

150gb free.

did restart the wifi connection and used a LAN connection, but it didn't help. still lagging.

only one other person uses the same wifi.

this is the test i'm doing, anything to change?
edit to clarify: the lag in the game may be an internet thing but being unresponsive in chrome is like, wtf, my budget laptop works better than this

OK, it's none of those causes then. I would run that Prime95 as is with the defaults. Keep a close eye on your temperatures though.
