Definitely worth getting premium if you intend to play consistently. Once map packs start coming out you'll start getting booted from servers if you don't have them, works out cheaper to go for premium from the get-go and gives you some other little bonus's too. Isn't too expensive if the grand scheme of things

The one thing that annoys me is that you get stronger and stronger weapons the more you play. Seriously puts beginners at a massive disadvantage... not only do I suck at the game anyway but my gun takes more to kill someone than their gun takes to kill me.

Sweet, i keep meaning to try it but i only ever order now and again. What is it £40 for the year or something, i haven't really looked into it.

Not necessarily true, the more you level up the higher variety of guns you will unlock, not necessarily stronger but perhaps a higher rate of fire or better accuracy, etc. No gun will be purposely overpowered to put others at a disadvantage, some may just be easier to use than others. I found all the starter guns (mainly Assault and Engineer) to be fine except maybe a little less powerful but with a higher rate of fire. This can be hard as a beginner as you have to hit the guy more times but they're not particularly underpowered at all. In fact I think the first Engineer gun is still my highest kills one.

Suggest you 'friend up' in Origin with PCS members and then look for them being on-line / in-game on the right-hand-side of Battle Log. I should be on tonight from 9 pm for a good few hours. My Origin ID is OAEon -- please add me to your friend list and I'll try and join you in game (managed a few games with Boozad last Friday).
Wise words! Play the objectives and you'll score high; sulk around the periphery trying to protect your K/D ration will slow your scoring.

I agree -- there will be 5 expansion packs for a total of 20 new maps, probably 25 new weapons, new vehicles, game types and assignments and rewards -- all covered in the Premium membership. On top of this there are weekly bonuses for Premium members, such as double XP weekends, battlepacks, etc. If you're planning on playing quite a bit of BF4 I think Premium is a definite must.

You cannot believe how gutted I was when the 22.99 deal came up this morning having paid 28.99 just last week, its this sort of stuff that makes me lose sleep.

I've set up a few 'missions' and invited Grimezy, Boozard, Keedar and Tom_g7 into them... Will see if it is a worthwhile part of the game.

I think my Battlelog is the red beamer but my origin is the blue mazda! You'd think these pieces of software would integrate a little bit nicer together.

Now regarding unlocking weapons and stuff. It is not that further unlocked weapons are better. It never was the case AFAIK. As Engineer, start with MX4 until you unlock AK 5C. Then add Reflex (RDS) optics to it.. and you're good to go. As Assault just get SCAR-H and again you are sorted.

Added a few of you on there (those of you who's ID I can see and those of you who's friends lists are visible and have people on them I recognise). Added my own Origin ID to my sig so others can add me if they want. Might try and get an hour or two of Battlefield deaths in tonight once I send the missus to bed...
Never really been into online games before, apart from Dark Souls on PS3 which I put almost 1000 hours into... :S
Anyone recommend other good online games to play? No interest in MMORPGS but any good general online games? Thinking about Need for Speed: Rivals but not til it's cheaper.
