Battlefield 4

I don't think you die too quickly, I think that not all bullets that hit you register until the last couple making it seem like you die right away. I've noticed this in close contact but I've managed to outrun being killed out in the open from range by running to cover, if anything I think that's more realistic as bullets would lose velocity over distance but would cause maximum damage close up.

As for snipers on roofs, the XM25 Airburst takes care of those! And the SRAW to a lesser extent.

Hmm. I dunno. I still don't really like the game, it doesn't suit the way I like to play. I'm going to have a couple of weeks away from it (been playing Dues Ex which is pretty awesome and my AC4 arrived today as well :)) maybe when I come back to it I will find it a bit more fun.
Edit: and I don't even know what an XM25 Airburst is.

You can use it to hit targets behind cover - you set range through the view finder then fire above the target - it gives an airburst which gives a lot of damage, enough for a kill if you get range right. I think it is standard kit for Support.

Right I've got an hour now. Anyone online? I don't even know what the multiplayer page means when you first launch the webpage. What are you supposed to pick if you're clueless?

I'll be joining in 10 mins or so, so I suspect I missed you... As for class... go for either Assault or Support and pick the med pack (Assault) or ammo pack (Support) as options and deploy them whenever you see team mates.

Dam missed you... Back on tomorrow 11am to 4pm...missus is out, yes! ;)

Joined a server tonight half way through a round and got a 6:4 kill death which seemed moderate to me ... Still in last place though, ha! Main issue so far is when the camera pans to who's killed me, they're often so far away I honestly don't know how they've even spotted me in the first place! And not even with a sniper rifle! I can barely kill someone with their back to me 5feet in front of me before they've spun around and nailed me.

If one of the Admins on EPC-G can grab a copy of that before the offer runs out we'll offer it as December's prize. I'll send you the cash back via Paypal, I can't order it from Amazon before the time runs out as I'm at work.

I'm shockingly awful at this and have a 0.55 K/D ratio at the moment from 4 hours of play (my first ever 4 hours of BF I should point out!). Starting to have some fun with it though. The majority of my kills are pot luck (turning a corner and finding an enemy with his back to me and oblivious), but every now and then I do some proper soldiering and get a good, solid proper kill :) Not often though!

I'm just a lone ranger though which doesn't help... is there some sort of PCS squad of players to play with? How do people pick servers? I was hoping it would be easier to pick games filled with hopeless beginners like me rather than being lumped in with John Rambo style uber-players who kill me 15 times every match!

I have a dodgy internet connection atm so I order by ping and then choose a fairly well populated server.

What game types have you been playing?

I started off with large conquest maps but the vehicle side of things completely overwhelmed given I barely even had a clue how the basic foot-soldiering worked. So I went to 32 players domination games, which has been a slightly better intro. With 64 players I just found it too random. So many people running around all over the place there didn't seem much logic to it... it seemed like you'd just run round and around until you spot an enemy and shoot them. With 32 players it seems a bit calmer and a bit more methodical. Once I get used to it I'll ramp it back up to 64 I'd like to think.

I've just been picking British domination game servers. Not really sure why I lean towards British servers though in my head I was thinking only British people would play on it and someone might communicate and tell me what to do! But I suppose the server nationality is actually irrelevant to who plays on it.

Go for 32 player conquest games, Domination is terrible, they just pick a map and then make it tiny and just have people running around.

Conquest with 32 players should offer a good mix of firefights but not too hectic. Aim to join servers playing maps like Zavod 311, Floodzone and Operation Locker as these are considerably smaller than most and are mainly focused on infantry combat :)

Vehicular warfare is excellent when you get used to it, whether you're taking out choppers with a Stinger or dominating in a tank, once you get into the swing of it you'll love it. Take the time to read through all of the weapons and vehicle upgrades through the loadout screen, that'll give you a basic feel of what does what and you can take it from there. And never be afraid to ask, I never did on BF3 and ended up confined to infantry Domination games as I couldn't get hold of the vehicle side, but on BF4 I've taken to vehicular warfare from the get go, maxed out on tanks and IFVs already and am loving it, plus I've already obliterated my BF3 kill totals for weapons that aren't guns in the space of about four weeks.

And never worry about your K/D ratio, I'm only on 0.7 and it's getting worse by the day, I prefer to concentrate on teamwork, objectives and mastering all sorts of weaponry, it makes the game much better and much more enjoyable than the basic run and gun that way.

I got my copy with minutes to spare. Was close. Gets delivered next week so should be on for a few games.

Is there Premium upgrade worth it yet or is it better to wait?
