Battlefield 4

infact hate all the maps where everybody hides on roofs with snipers, takes all of the fun out of it for muppets like me who like to run around with SMGs.
Couldn't agree more! Recon is my least favourite class to play and the one that annoys the crap out of me most when playing against, especially when up against accurate shooters hidden on rooftops I can't see.

Just wondering do you guys think the sniper count will drop as the game settles down to a core number of players, or dyou think the map designs encourages that class more than any other?

If so, wouldnt it be a case of less and less people playing those particular maps as they get recognised as a "camping map"?

It's even more annoying when they're hidden around Domination maps sniping you from 30 yards. They should grow a pair and play the objective.

Yeah too many snipers isn't much fun. Thing I hate the most at present are vehicles. Main thing that kills me. But when I try a tank/heli I get mobbed and blow up in approx 60 seconds. I was great with a tank on BF3...where am I going wrong?!

On another point you make about teammates - very annoying. When we have a few on next we should try and play as a team and take flags together, at the moment we do our own thing. We can revive each other and have someone to blow up tanks etc, much more fun. We should get a team speak server sorted. I might set one up since I'll be playing a lot - get TS3 installed :)

I'll be on till late on Friday...everybody get online!

As far as I know in-game voice chat works now so we can just use that :) Although I haven't heard any screaming kids in my time playing it yet so perhaps it's not fully functional yet...

I've used Teamspeak 3 twice now for Fifa and I get the feeling it is far superior to everything else. But n = 2 does not make my conclusion statistically significant. Main thing for me is separating game sound from voice...not all in-game chat functions can do this. Also, we won't be able to chat between games and when picking servers (I would assume).

Anyone try it on Vortex 4 with 780M how its run ...settings and FPS ?

I run it at 1920 x 1080 on high at 60 fps consistently. On ultra i average 45 to 50 fps so still quite good.

to view the fps counter in game press the tilde key and type perfoverlay.drawfps 1

I think the maps are sniper friendly to be honest. Had a TDM on Operation Locker last night and there were snipers in there, they're getting everywhere. Operation Locker is the most intimate map on there and I wouldn't dream of going Recon, but one guy picked me off four times with a sniper rifle. It just really puts you off the game. I doubt you'll see snipers decrease, in fact I think you'll see exactly the opposite as more and more newcomers cotton on and employ the same tactic.

On the flip side I had my most enjoyable round on Conquest on Flood Zone last night, some great squad play coupled with some memorable kills made it a right buzz. I got kills with the SCAR-H, LAV, grenades and carbon fiber knife. Plenty of flag captures and flag defends too and, funnily enough, not a sniper in sight. Objective played, tactical work, great kills, squad play, squad objectives completed. A proper round on Battlefield.

Was just mucking around in BF4 Battlelog looking at the leader boards and saw that the top 'most time played' for a UK based player stands at just under 95 hours. Assuming that they started playing on Thursday (day ahead of actual release) that means that they are averaging just under 16 hours of in-game time a day! Insane!

If someone used a VPN to log into US servers early (which I know some did) it would make it more understandable, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone actually had put that many hours in since Friday.

Thanks for the reply Booz. Thats sad to hear.
Been reading up on BF4 and the maps (which really make or break these types of games) and the impression im getting is that theyre not what BF maps used to be. Almost like most of them have been designed to be more confined.

On a more positive note, Im sure as time goes on you'll get more noobs (like me if i decide to get BF4) that will be cannon fodder for the likes of yourself :)

Nothing wrong with the current maps in my eyes, there are large and small ones, the large ones can often feel empty and are only really fun if you're in a tank picking off lone stragglers. For someone who's starting as an engineer (sub machine guns mainly) confined maps are ideal.

I would rather have a bit of action instead of sprinting around the wilderness for a full game only getting a few kills :)

I think I may have given the wrong impression, I actually love the maps and prefer them to BF3. If you look at maps like Nebandan Flats, Kiasar Railroad, Wake Island and to a lesser extent Sabalan Pipeline, they were the only real open ones that favoured vehicular warfare (that I played anyway). There were some great confined maps that were good for infantry and vehicles, and some quality infantry only maps.
The trouble I found with a lot of maps were controlling 'key' points, the points weren't part of the objective but could seriously affect the other team's game play and the outcome of the round (the stairs in ScrapMetal and the bar balcony in Ziba Tower spring to mind), so because these points had been figured out for so long games became quite predictable.

The difference in the maps so far on BF4 is the unpredictability of them, there are no holding points (as yet) and the balance swings quickly from team to team. It's refreshing and I'm really enjoying them. My problem with the snipers is they're playing the wrong maps and game modes, the maps themselves are fine.
