Battlefield 4

It probably dates back quite a while.
I think when I went to uni given that I lived in halls for two years, we had to pay for accomodation and food on a termly basis (ie. for the whole term at the beginning of the term) so if I'd gotten money split monthly/weekly I wouldn't have been able to pay the rent/food initially.
Though do note this was quite a lot of years ago now, it's quite possible it's just not done like that anymore.

What students and many people actually need is to be shown that they do not need to go out and buy everything they want, they need to budget and work out what they can afford and can't afford!

Or the loan to go directly to uni for tuition fees or accommodation.

My Battlelog app is majorly glitchy and laggy but as far as I'm aware my stats page is still there..

Getting a tad annoyed with the servers. My 'quit' percentage is 48% and it ever only seems to do it on the games I'm doing well on. It crashed about 3 times in a row for me last night, Dad comes up asking for a go, I let him, it works perfectly for the whole 30 minutes of game time and he gets a fantastic score of 8 kills from 28 deaths. Fantastic.

Probably going to ease off playing too much until there's a bit more stability. Had to stop using battlemap as well as it was causing too much lag for some reason..

I forgot about battlemap...might have to give it a whirl when I get home tonight. I've had quite a few crashes but they're not ruining the game for me...quite enjoying it now. I hate that silly map with the train though, too many vehicles.

I think it's a 'grower', and DICE will fix it over time. People seem to be accusing EA for the early release (to beat the release of COD).

I have to add that any game that gives me a 'memorable moment' is OK in my book; the skyscraper collapsing and 'that' moment on Paracel. I really like the environmental changes.

I think it's a bit daft giving students all that money in one go. It means they go out thinking they can afford a £1500 Macbook and then realise that they can't afford food for months.

Couldn't disagree more to be honest. The payments are not particularly high, it just sounds alot as they get maintenance loan and a grant solely to live on, both at the same time. Tuition fees are separate. If Joe bloggs studying **insert subject** blows his maintenance grant+loan in the first month, that's his choice and his own responsibility. Whilst I agree that you would expect a degree level student to be able to manage his/her money effectively, but if they don't initially, certainly by the start of their 2nd year they will be/should be taking it much more seriously. If student A wants to blow his on booze in the SU/local nightlife let him, his money to manage how he wants. Student B might spend theirs on a ton of books. Whereas Student C might bank theirs straight into an ISA. Would it be wise to spread the payments out a little? hmm, well, i guess that is up for debate :)

A further problem is that, board/rent of halls/private rent is considerably expensive/rip off for 1st,2nd n 3rd year students(in fact everyone that rents) , After rent, loans/grant don't in my opinion leave alot to live on. It certainly can be a challenge for those that are not financially supported by parents. In my opinion students are not given enough money maintenance loan wise. Students should be able to borrow more than the measly 4-5k per year maintenance loan, at the end of the day they're going to pay it back in a few ways. 1, by repaying the debt, 2, by paying higher levels of income tax over the duration of their lives - (due to probably higher salary)

anyway back on topic :)

I think maybe if the courses weren't so expensive, £9k a year, then I think the student financing wouldn't be so tight with maintenance loans

Rage quit from my last game, I hate camping snipers in close quarters and BF4 is full of them, coupled with useless squad mates (nobody I know) who twice caused me to be killed by blocking my route going for Rambo moments and ending up dead themselves. Coupled with rubber bullet syndrome (hit three snipers multiple times before being killed) was just too much. 0 kills for 8 stupid deaths = rage quit. I've slagged more people off in game in four days than in four months on BF3.

Worst pwning I've experienced that almost made me rage quit was on flood zone conquest. They'd managed to parachute pretty much all their snipers onto the really high rooftops so they could see every base on the map. Was just surrounded with nowhere to hide yet they still had guys wiping us out on the ground.

Hoping to play tonight providing I can finally get my stats back on track without crashes!

Yeah I don't normally rage quit, but that last round last night was infuriating. I think I'll stick to BF3 for close quarters as at least it's semi-strategical, on BF4 the maps allow for snpers to hide, camp and pick you off within a few seconds of spawning. Completely defeats the object of a domination round as they're blatantly not playing the objective.

I'll be on sometime after the footy finishes, probably around 10. Seemed to do a lot better last night, but still really, really crap at this!

I did go for the snipers, but when you head for one you've clocked another one just picks you off. I wouldn't mind if they were around a flag defending it but they weren't.

Hate that map, infact hate all the maps where everybody hides on roofs with snipers, takes all of the fun out of it for muppets like me who like to run around with SMGs.

I may be on tonight some time after 9.

There are miles more snipers in BF4 than in 3, it's one aspect of the game that's starting to really annoy me about it.
