Some banks offer free interest overdraft on a few hundred pounds. I have overdrafts on all my accounts (set up automatically) but never used it however I wish I had that facility when I was at uni.

Yea I have friends at Uni who get the top level student loans, receive money from dad's as parents are separated, work part time as well and then still have bank accounts in £500 overdrafts just because they spend it all on rubbish and have to have the most fashionable clothes and go out 3 times a week and blah blah.

Makes me wonder how I'd manage at Uni if I went after hearing about their financial woes!

My suggestion was under the assumption you are a rational decision maker :) I know some people using it for unnecessary items which is ok if you use exiting savings rather than borrowing or using the student loan for unnecessary items or computer related :)

Haha ok ok I will consider a very small overdraft and shout at my bank for not forcing me to have one in the first place meaning I might miss out on a day of gaming! Silly bank! Not my fault at all.

My bank says I have a £200 overdraft facility which I have only ever needed once (forgot to transfer the money across) and it just declined, I had no 3g to transfer the money so had to pay £70 of the transaction cash, was pretty cheesed off.

Out of interest is there any bonus to having Premium from day one or do you only start seeing the benefits once the expansion packs start coming out? I'd like to buy it as I've been paid today but I don't see the point in spending £40 if I'm not really going to notice any difference yet..

I went for the premium - I'll wait and see if it was worth it! With Premium you get 3 battle packs with additional camo, dog tags, battlelog portraits and the carbon fibre knife. You are meant to get preferred queuing rights, but I've not been able to queue up on any servers yet - maybe because we've not had the official UK launch? You get early access to each expansion two weeks before non-premium members and finally there is meant to be weekly bonuses, but not sure what these will be.

The main reason I got it was it was a cheaper option to get the expansions when they come out.

I'll probably get it then, it's not a bad deal for £35'ish and I assume they'll have a lot of 2x events and stuff going on for premium members. I just remember getting BF3 base game AND premium for £18 last year so I know I'd be gutted if I spent £70 on BF4 + Premium only to see it at half price in a few months time. I suppose you pay for the benefit of early access though.

Yeah, I think I got my BF3 Premium for £20 direct from EA directly after the SimCity launch issues. I'm pretty sure we won't see a BF4 Premium pack at a similar price until all expansions are released.

Just purchased for £35 :) total cost of £65 then. This game had better be good!

Think of it this way... If you play 65 hours then your entertainment has cost you £1 per hour. If you compare that to, say, £10 for watching a two hour film at the cinema then it works out good value, though it does depend on how you value your time / money!

As for the game itself, I played a couple of hours last night. It is not that much different to BF3, though I think it looks slightly better. On the whole the maps are more interesting / well designed and quite varied. When you get hit there is a different 'feel', much more of an 'ouch', and the guns seem to have less recoil which makes shooting a bit easier. Overall I died a lot but enjoyed it until my last game when I rage quit after going for 0-10!

Blimey, you're not taking into account that I have to pay for the missus and then buy her food as well! When you put it like that then it definitely is good value.

I just really hope BF4 gets me immersed into FPS's again, I enjoyed BF3 but towards the end the only decent servers were the CQC ones and they were brain-dead on 64 player games. I just want maps were you actually have to fight for an area using your brain rather than mindless CQC or huge vehicle maps with no decent infantry combat. Seine Crossing/Grand Bazaar were pretty perfect in size for using infantry tactics along with having a couple of light tanks thrown in.
