4k buyers remorse / performance issues

Wait.

Let's try Safe Mode first. If it's stable in Safe Mode then your problem is a third-party driver - and I can (probably) help you find it. That will save the reinstall.

In Safe Mode you need to use as much of your apps as you can - which might not be a lot in Safe Mode without networking. But you need to try and use as much as you can of your third party apps and devices.

Only you know under what circumstances it crashes, so try and repeat those circumstances. Safe Mode might save a reinstall.....

I should have checked the forums again...didn't seem to get a notification for this reply :(

Ah well

Ive done a reinstall but now i have a host of new errors lol

They seem to relate to the cpu? im still getting app hangs and now normal apps seem to be crashing. All the windows updates and gpu drivers up to date. some dll errors. some app restarts, none of those out of mem issues yet tho!

might need to do another windows install just incase it messed up or something, it did fail to make the recovery stick the first time.

Also one other thing, i tried 3d mark again and get about the same score, however it took forever to even run since it kept getting "No DXGI adapter with given LUID found, but that seemed to just go after a while lol

Oh, one other thing ive been noticing and i havent mentioned here but in almost every game ive played i have horrendous LOD, like shadows and objects npcs /textures popping in a few feet from the character. Ive tried red dead redemption 2, ac odyssey, batman arkham knight, hitman 3, dying light 2 and a few others and its all exactly the same issue, even with the reinstall.

Now ive played all these bar dying light 2 on my old pc with 1080, 7700k and never had issues like this on it. So i am thinking it must be the pc, ive posted on the games forums and been told it must be my pc and my specs should not be having the issues im having ect.

Someone has said it could be a ram issue but i am not sure

What have PCS been saying to you? That last post about those detail issues is definitely not right - my gut feel reading that is a graphics card issue. If it's still possible to return this for a refund then I would. Otherwise I would RMA it with the graphics detail issues - especially if they're easily reproduced.

I don't see anything terribly worrying in the log you posted. TBH it looks like driver issues to me. Have you run Windows Update repeatedly until no more updates are found? have you then checked under 'View optional updates' for any driver updates in there? Have you checked that in Device Manager there are no devices with a yellow triangle containing a black exclamation mark?

Ive not had too much comms with pcs, mostly just support here. Pcs last comms was regarding the motherboard.

yes all updates have been installed, not checked DM but ill have a look tonight.

Apparently ive had the pc for 3 months, doesn't feel that long since ive spent 90% of that time trouble shooting:( i just wanted to game lol i should have kept my old 1080 since i had no issues like this back then...actually worse performance wise with the pop in and hangs stutters lol. But yeah i dont think ill be getting a refund at this stage.

I could rma but at this point theres half the pc i wanna rma

I'm tired boss.

As you've already reset the system I would do this again, but I would do so following some guidance (not sure what you followed before?).

You want to have the Win11 image on a USB, presume this is what you had?

Download the latest AMD drivers from the AMD website. https://drivers.amd.com/drivers/amd_chipset_software_5.05.16.529.exe

Download the latest Nvidia GPU drivers for your card from the Nvidia site. https://www.nvidia.co.uk/content/Dr...international-dch-whql.exe&lang=uk&type=TITAN

Copy both downloads over to the same USB that you have the Windows installation on. Keep them here to ensure they don't get wiped out below.

When you're installing Win11, ensure that you go into the advanced options and delete all the partitions on the primary drive. This ensures that you're starting from scratch. If you have important data/files on the secondary drives then be sure to only affect the primary drive.

Once complete, install the Chipset drivers from AMD on the USB
Install the Nvidia drivers from the USB
Open Windows update and install all updates, including optional ones. This will require multiple restarts and checks, you need to keep checking until everything is confirmed as installed.

Once you're at this point. Install 3DMark, run Timespy Extreme and see where the performance lands.

Install a game or 2 and see how everything performs.

If there are issues during any of the above steps take note and feed back with what's happening. If it's easy to reproduce I would arrange an RMA as there is a clear hardware issue. We can investigate the GPU/RAM/etc but I wouldn't bother at this stage unless you wanted to only send back the GPU or the RAM, or whatever is wrong, rather than the whole system.

As a bit of feedback on PCS component level RMA, to back up what Scott is saying...

I advised my friend on a new build from PCS about a month back (a 7800x3D, RTX4090, 1200W, 32GB, 2 x m.2 build in a 5000X - no, not envious at all 😬 ).

Everything worked wonderfully for a week...and then he started having crashes. I did a few remote troubleshooting sessions with him (due to having so many restarts between steps) and narrowed it down to the GPU.

The next day he called PCS, armed with the list of all the troubleshooting steps we'd carried out, and PCS said there was nothing further they'd be able to check remotely, and so would simply send him out a new 4090 for him to swap over. His Zotac 4090 was handed over to the courier and swapped with (according to my friend, a much sturdier-feeling) retail-boxed Gainward Phantom 4090...and he's had zero issues since.

So don't be put off contacting PCS support directly, as they're the only ones who will be able to authorise an RMA and possibly get the system back to 100%.

Windows 10 but yes ill do it again.

I followed microsofts guild on it, create usb ect

amd leads to
"We’re sorry, but we were unable to complete your download. There could be several reasons for this:

You were linked to this download from a site outside of AMD.com"

But i can find the drivers again, ive installed them before so should be fine finding them again.

After reading through all of these posts, I'm inclined to agree with ubuysa with the issue likely being a faulty GPU. You've already done what I would consider thorough troubleshooting, and a clean install of Windows 11 + newest driver updates would usually rule out software/OS issues.

You could check monitoring software such as CPU-Z, GPU-Z, and HWInfo64 to be thorough with XMP profiles, thermals, and clock speeds, but the fact you had nvlddmkm typically points to a GPU issue.

At this point, I would personally recommend calling PCSpecialist and setting up an RMA. You've only owned the PC for a few months and shouldn't have to be spending this much time troubleshooting hardware this soon. The good news is that (from my experience) PCSpecialist are pretty good with RMA's and are usually quick to identify and fix the faults.

Yeah ill give them a call next week and see what i can do, defo think gpu might be the issue now but guess we will see. Bit worried about taking the gpu out lol, tried before and i couldnt get the little latch thing to pop out the gpu, so little space between the gpu and the case, will need to find a metal rod or something to get under it

Hi All, Just removed my gpu for tomorrow (hope putting it back in will be easier that took forever lol) I hopefully have not damaged anything but we will see.

But when i turned pc back on the pc did 4 beeps, not sure what that means but wanted to record it on the forums incase i need to come back for more trouble shooting.

beep codes are short / long, so you need to specify the order?

But if you've removed the GPU and trying to power it on without it, it's likely a GPU error (as there isn't one) and would be expected.

So got new gpu, no rgb on this one it seems, versions of this card do have rgb and look nice but the omniblack palit is kinda ugly with no lights, oh well! Thats just personal taste.

Anyway!
Put the gpu in screwed it all up and plugged all cables in, 4 beeps again 1 long 3 short, fans start going ect, all good

But the issue is, now i cant get the screen to come on at all, tried both motherboard and gpu slots and a few dif cables hdmi/dpi, nothing. No input error

Any ideas?

Also looking up reviews for this card mention poor build quality and cost cutting, bad vrm bad temps ect. Hopefully this is not the case because the temps are high enough on my pc and i really dont want the card to break on me soon lol
