There both really good personally if I was to go curved screen it would be the samsung g9 as it would have to be massive but on smaller screens I dont like the curve so its a case of personal preference currys usually have a samsung g5 on display or some curved monitor to see if curved appeals...

I have that monitor fantastic monitor but a samsung g5 is a curved 1440p 144hz and costs about the same as a lg27 martin has been known to approve of a samsung g5
Its a good solid build that should last in future with maybe a graphics card change in future.
For 1080p gaming its pritty much top end .
I personally would not use the cases on the smaller side they are pritty bad thermally especially in the summer months when average room temp rises

Most pepole spec the asus boards over the gigabyte in my opinion there the better option
850w psu to allow headroom for upgrades in future
16gb ram = most games will not use anything near...

to explain the case is great for airflow it rivals the coolmaster 500m a £179 case
( i own a coolmaster 500m which has amazing airflow so to rival it impresses me no end this information on case was acquired from watching gaming nexus review on it well a respected youtuber )

Not to knowledgeable on linux unfortunately but I do think the onboard graphics may struggle in gaming at 1440p onboard to me is more directed at 1080p
