Funny this but I have tried it... kind of.
As part of the testing for when I had laser eye surgery back in 2007. It was very much needed as I'd first had specs when I was 8 but by 17 it was permanent for all uses and my vision just kept going downhill after, I couldn't handle contacts either...
Thanks. Must admit FF7 remake is a bit tempting. I don't usually replay story games but this one is kind of unique in that it's been close on a quarter century since I played it 😱🤯😬
Tell you what though, wonder and shock at how the heck did I make it this far aside, I would totally go for a...
Well, I missed all the above games but then I kind of missed Christmas too, recovering from that weird flu business etc.
So, belatedly a merry Christmas to you all, and I pray you are all well, safe and gorged to the eyeballs with goodness and goodies.
I'm kind of bummed over missing Death...
I wouldn't say HZD was necessarily longer than Days Gone, and I loved it as much tbh but...
Days Gone was gone, done in a month with 120 hours. HZD got started August 2021, and still playing with some 80 odd hours in. It's grown into more of a slow burner/drip feed since, like GTA5 did. Not cos...
My first new PC game (bought with HZD) to break in the new PCSpecialist PC last year.
It got some undeservedly bad reviews tbh but for me it was more up there with Dying Light, RE 2 and 7 than, say, Dead Island. A bit slow to start and get into maybe but it opens up well after. Runs well too, as...
Ach. I missed out on a few goodies this last week or so as I got that cold/flu thing that's been going around so bad I haven't been on PC in a week (and doing stuff via phone is a pain) Really knocked me for six though, honestly about as bad as Covid did and despite having my jabs etc, so take...
You're welcome. That one is a PCIe 3.0 NVME drive, and not the fastest there is. Still, significantly faster than a SATA SSD though. My gf's gaming laptop has a similar speed one for her boot drive and tbh it's snappy enough even compared to my PCIe 4.0 boot drives.
Fwiw and imo your cheaper...
Long story short, SSD is way better than HDD.
In detail HDD is a mechanical drive that's limited by the speed of the working parts, while SSD's have no working parts. As for SSD's themselves there's two main types, SATA and NVME. The former top out at around 5-600 MB R/W (read and write speeds)...
I'd definitely steer clear of a HDD for any remotely recent AAA gaming at the least. I mean, if you're gonna spend that much on a new GPU...
I'd say at the least get a fuller speed 256-512Gb PCIe 4.0 or even a fuller speed (3000-3500 MB R/W) 3.0 for the boot and throw the current one in slot 2...
It's a nice idea, this stocking filler tech upgrade, but I'm just about wrapped up re hardware tbh.
Well, short of the RDNA3 launch and reviews. Sure, I don't need it as my 6800XT hasn't been rendered obsolete by the new gen buuut...
Desktop (specs below) is all good. 1Tb of that NVME storage...
Thing is, in the early days of the open world action adventure genre, Ubi were ahead of the curve. They got some great IP's established and going with equally good sequels at a decent rate of release for those hungry for it.
Then they kind of overdid the release schedule, copy/pasted overmuch...
Gave it most of one precious evening but I didn't get on well with it either. But XB1 controller as opposed to more fitting controls so... (had the same issue with Elite Dangerous back in 2015 though, loved the idea of it but wasn't worth spending more to maybe play more)
And as for Star Wars...

Had no idea I could call up stats like this but small fry in comparison tbh. Still, surprisingly £3.54/hour... ok, not the worst but I dunno... it's like the older I get the more I want my money's worth out of things I guess...
A quandary indeed for me too.
My backlog is always hovering in the background. Seems like every new game bought pushes the oldest backlogged from 'maybe one day, all else being ideal' to 'never'... which tbf the rate I get through things is almost the same.
And my mindset or whatever has...
I will try it out, just having to be very quiet rn as gf had some gruelling dental work done earlier and is feeling fragile.
I have asked Alexa to tell jokes though and... well, I thought I was bad re 'dad' jokes. Sure, my 'kids' are two dogs and a cat but their reactions to my humour gets a...
WiP here.
We got Alexa/Echo Dot etc a few months ago. Yes, with an intention to go somewhat more all out than we yet have re lighting aso.
Tbh we've used Alexa so little (probably directly correlated to not doing more) that she's started jumping into conversations without being prompted...
Eh...
Blimey... this one got under my radar but sad all the same.
Odd one this, but despite being born in '77, the Carry On's and other staples of yesteryear featured pretty heavily and fondly in my childhood. My grandad was a projectionist originally (and served as such in the Army in Germany after...
Shadow Tactics was actually one of my best buys about a year or so after launch (actually helped me through a pretty rough patch so while the nostalgia isn't the sweetest, the game did me alright as a fun distraction)
Anyway, very reminiscent of Commandos and the like but without the...
Ooh, I'll buy that for a dollar.
Well, the DLC then, next time there's a sale and after Total War: Warhammer 3 gets old.
In the backlog it goes, bwahaha.
I can highly recommend Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus (and DLC) That's one I got at launch.
Very XCom with better than average WH40K based goodness and a nice puzzle aspect thrown in. Good for more than one play through too.
Saturnalia looks... interesting. I'll be giving that a try though what with...
