SteamDB stats!

A quandary indeed for me too.

My backlog is always hovering in the background. Seems like every new game bought pushes the oldest backlogged from 'maybe one day, all else being ideal' to 'never'... which tbf the rate I get through things is almost the same.
And my mindset or whatever has changed in the last year or so. Used to be I'd think nothing of £50-100 on a big sale a couple of times a year getting used up for little actual use but now I question every buy, even after buying. It's not like I can't afford it either... I just dislike wastage more or something nm burning out being easier.

That said, my wishlist has rarely been so full, varied or promising...
I'm very much like that these days. My Humble Choice membership is adding between 1 and 8 games to my backlog every single month, and because of the availability of free/cheap games, my library is already ridiculously big to the point where I'll never clear it. My wishlist is bigger than a lot of people's libraries, although I am getting rid of the wishlist bit by bit when games I no longer want end up on sale, rather than having a big clear out in one day.

For the fun of it, my library and wishlist can be found here:

Before I post mine...will a higher or lower £/hour going to gain me more kudos
Ultimately, the lower your £/hour, the more control you have over your Steam backlog. I think this is a good thing. Mine is pretty high (usually £6+/hour) because my backlog is massively out of control.

Iiinteresting...

Had no idea I could call up stats like this but small fry in comparison tbh. Still, surprisingly £3.54/hour... ok, not the worst but I dunno... it's like the older I get the more I want my money's worth out of things I guess, hence the self questioning. I don't know if that average £/hour bears out my slowing down on buying games, especially in sales, over the last couple of years but most of my library is from sales.
Anyway, there's a few games I've had that aren't there (either before Steam and/or didn't enter them etc) including a couple that I racked up way more hours in than the top one there. Yes, I really have played Ultimate General: Civil War for 1,183 hours...

Main issue with me and getting on in games is difficulty focusing, getting into new things/mechanics etc (for example, I still buy Total War games past the ones I have many hours in despite the newer mechanics etc being hard to get back into) Also, that being aware of whatever I am playing there is that backlog that deserves using, even if not to completion.

Anyway, I guess it won't hurt too much if I do get myself something this sale ;)

PS: That is actually one hell of an interesting wishlist Denz.

Since discovering this tool a little while back, it's helped me actually have some order in tackling my backlog, which is resulting in me actually getting games gone and keeping things moving. My most expensive game in price per hour terms is Persona 5. I've heard nothing but rave reviews of the Persona games, so bought 4 when it released on Steam, and 5 when it released last month, but haven't gotten around to playing Persona 4 properly yet.

I've tasked myself with completing the newest Tales from the Borderlands and finally getting around to finishing the two main Wolfenstein games in the next month or two. This will free up 130GB or so which should allow me to install my new arrivals in February - the next Yakuza game and the long-awaited, oft delayed System Shock remake!

I'll then start hammering away at Persona 4 and will make a start on Persona 5 once 4 is done. That will move Persona 5 down the table in cost per hour and I can start looking at some of the other games that catch my eye up near the top of the list. I hope eventually to have my total cost per hour well below a fiver an hour!
