    PCSPECIALIST Laptop replacement advice

Is it just because the OS is being constantly accessed and so you avoid "traffic jams" by having it on a separate channel?

    PCSPECIALIST Laptop replacement advice

Also, what is the reason for getting two hard drives? I get that you want the os on as fast a drive as possible but windows won't take up anywhere near 500GB and it seems like a bit of a wast to get 500GB at 6900MB/R and a separate 1TB at 3500MR/R when I could just get 1TB at 7000MB/R, save a...

    PCSPECIALIST Laptop replacement advice

Hi there. No I don't particularly need 32GB. I have no idea what I need but the recomended for modern games that I might want to play seems to be 16GB and so 32GB seemed like basic future proofing. Maybe it isn;t required. I don;t use an external monitor and so the screen is going to be...

    PCSPECIALIST Laptop replacement advice

Hi there, My current (PCS) laptop is about 6 years old now and as the wife is hoping for a couple of expensive Christmas presents this is probably a good time to get mine upgraded as well without too much earache... In terms of general requirements... I'm happy with a 15 inch screen but could...

PCSPECIALIST Weird pink haze at bottom of screen

Right, it didn't reoccur for a while but has now done so... I took a screenshot - which doesn't include the haze, suggesting the screen as the issue. I have however randomly stumbled across a solution... If I use the display settings in windows to change the monitor from 60Hz down to 44Hz...

PCSPECIALIST Weird pink haze at bottom of screen

I will give safe mode a try next time the problem occurs but it is intermittent and a restart often clears it (even not using safe mode), provided that I also close and reopen the lid...

    PCSPECIALIST RTX 3080 8gb vs 16gb - I am so confused

There are some cracks in the corner of the screen - I've updated the thread that I posted about it a while back. https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/weird-pink-haze-at-bottom-of-screen.86747/#post-657322 It is an annoying but intermittent problem

PCSPECIALIST Weird pink haze at bottom of screen

I have completed a re-paste - which was definitely needed (old paste hard and crusty on both CPU and GPU) but was easier than I thought. The laptop definitely runs cooler now (although I forgot to run a temperature monitor before I di the re-paste, which is a shame). My issue with the screen...

    PCSPECIALIST RTX 3080 8gb vs 16gb - I am so confused

I have a 5 year old Defiance. I can run most things that I want to (Cyber Punk, BG3), on medium settings but I think that I have an issue with either the graphics card or the screen, which causes me intermittent issues with the display.

    PCSPECIALIST RTX 3080 8gb vs 16gb - I am so confused

Hi all, I am at the point where all though I don't strictly need to replace my laptop I am warming to the idea of doing so. Going with the principle of "get the best that you can afford and it will last longer" my budget is around £1,600 - £1,700. I was considering the 15" Recoil - with a...

PCSPECIALIST Order to undo heat sink screws

Hi all. I’m about to do a repaste for the first time and can see the screws on both heat sinks (cpu & gpu) are numbered 1 to 4. Is this the order for when putting the heat sinks on or for when taking them off? Or does it not matter? I.e if the 1-4 is the order that the screws should be put...

PCSPECIALIST Sata M2 drives - advice

Hi Everybody and many thanks to all who helped me on my lst thread. So, I want to expand my hard disk space, currently only having 512 GB. I will likely ugrade my laptop in the next 12 to 24 months and I had planned to get a 1TB drive now which I could move over to a new system as and when I...

Ok, that makes sense. I bit disapointing that PCS's upgrade page was offering it but there we go. Given that PCS don't seem to have a compatable drive available is anybody able to recomend?
