Hopefully the new card sorts it. Nearly 3 weeks into owning my new gaming pc and I've done almost no gaming on it 😭
Spyder, thanks again for your troubleshooting help. You're a star
Ok, luckily I got through to pcspecialist and the person I spoke to is sure it's a bad GPU so I'm still getting the new on around tuesday. If that one has the same issues obviously I'll give this a try provided it doesnt void my warranty haha. Thanks again Spyder.
Any clue how I get to the psu? Sorry if that sounds silly but the connectors from the card vanish into a shroud near the motherboard and the back of that shroud looks like this:
This is what the side I'm accessing looks like:
I cant figure out how to trace the cable as it disappears behind a shroud in the case. I contacted pcspecialist and they said the GPU us likely faulty and they're sending me one to swap but I do feel like this cable thing is the issue. With how complex the case is through I just dont know if I'm...
I found this thread:
Everyone in this topic is saying the card pretty much requirings two pcie cables rather than one split in two. I'm really no savvy as to what that means, but I'm attaching a picture and can someone let me know if I have one split in two or two? My PSU is 750w and I even...
Hi again all,
So after another two graphics card crashes today I decided to reinstall windows with the OS set to UEFI Windows in the bios.
Even after the reinstall, I see no toggle on my device security screen.
At this point should I be asking to return the pc to pcspecialist? Kinda annoyed...
Had a look, quite a few people mentioning excessive backlight bleed. Will shop around for sure, don't mind paying a bit more for quality but it'll be a hard sell for the boyf since he's not a gamer or even much of a computer guy. Would need to sneak the idea around him for a bit haha.
Thanks so...
Oof, would need to convince my partner that dropping another grand or two on a screen is worth it for a 4k 144hz one. Maybe I can slip it in during quarantine lol. Will def keep an eye on prices for those though, 4k 144hz sounds immense.
Ahh I had been thinking about that but desk realestate is pretty thin right now haha, working from home is both a blessing and a curse. I'll ear-mark some stuff, any suggestions on a reasonable but good screen?
Spyder, massive thanks for dealing with me in such a considerate way and walking me through all the troubleshooting, you've been such a help and all out of sheer kindness! I'll see if things stay stable, hoping I'm now out of the woods with the dx crashes but if not luckily the warranty is good...
Ok, I gave it a go anyway and got this:
So I assume this is sort of a half-way point between having it on and off? No toggles but it does seem to note that secure boot is enabled. Is it weird PCspecialist wouldn't have UEFI enabled from the original install?
Options are:
[Windows UEFI mode]: Execute the Microsoft secure boot check. Only select this option when booting on Windows UEFI mode or
other Microsoft secure boot compliant operating systems.
(Other OS): Select this option to get the optimized functions when booting on Windows non-UEFI mode...
I've got two monitors, one is a cheap Asus one, 60mhz refresh rate mainly for messing around in browsers while gaming. Main monitor is a bit of a cheapout too - LG Ultragear 27GL83A-B. Lowest price Gsync-compatible monitor I could find with some otherwise good reviews. WIll need to update the...
Yes it said I was up to date before I removed a bunch of the KB updates. Shall I have another go and see if the security setting shows up?
Ah, thank you! I went very overboard because A) I have no idea how any of this works and most of my googling took me to "enthusiastic" websites meaning I...
Also I took a scattergun approach and uninstalled a few of my most recent windows updates and geforce experience installed and I've managed to update my graphics driver! So huge thanks for that, but do you think there's a bigger issue with the system?
