Not really. I tend to play competitive games on console, so probably won't on PC. I do play MMOs on PC, but more as a single player game than competitively. Otherwise a lot of strategy, open world RPGs mainly.
Hi guys,
While in waiting on my 3080 build I might as well have a look at some monitors. I was originally planning an ultrawide, so the build specs were advised on with that in mind. But now I'm wondering whether 4k might be the better option. I'm a big gamer, so that's what I'd mainly use it...
After some mental back and forth I've switched back to the 3080 from the 6800xt. I'm not sure it will make much difference in the time, and with the amount I'm spending I'd rather have the better rt performance.
I only wish the 3090 wasn't so expensive, ie an extra £750 for not a huge...
I think it will marginally speed things up, but the supply issue is so bad and all the cards so in demand that things will only get noticeably better once everyone has sorted out their manufacturing. Same issue with the Xbox/ PS5
I guess my thinking was PCS would at least get a couple in, and if most people aren't willing to pay more then I could get one of those.
Mostly wishful thinking I'll grant you, but there is a little logic behind it.
I also switched out to a 6800xt and received emailing saying 30th for build. I suspect that given they've now added the not guaranteed for Christmas message that we may all be waiting a little longer.
To be honest I'll consider switching to the 6900xt if there is no movement by the time that's...
Having switched to the 6800xt yesterday I received an email saying 30th November for an estimated build. Not sure how accurate that is likely to be given I'm only 9 days from the original order.
Given I was only 8 days in I've swapped to the 6800xt as well. If there is no movement and the price isn't too much more I might go for the 6900 when that comes out.
Have to rethink my monitor though, as was planning to get one with gsync.
I actually meant in terms of delivery, but I also look forward to benchmarking. Will have a look at the 6900 XT in December, since it's not supposed to be as expensive as the 3090 but has comparable performance. Might be worth a swap if AMD do better with the manufacturing.
You'll also find in their Ts and Cs that their limitation of liability in these circumstances is the value they've received from you, hence the most you'll get back is a refund.
Nice payday for your lawyers though.
Re. information, I would like to know where I am in the queue for a 3080. It may be commercially sensitive as you say, but maybe a rough idea? I.e. you are from 51-100, 101-150, more than a thousand etc.
Re. legal action, you're right. But even with a build date, I bet they have a force majeure...
I don't see what grounds there are for legal action. It was clear on ordering that it was going to be a while and a full refund is available if you don't want to wait.
I do think that given the circumstances a deposit and full payment on build system might have come across better than us all...
