I've recently gone through the dilemma of choosing Intel or AMD, one thing to note is that for some reason on a lot of the benchmarks i've noticed Intel processors outperform AMD processors when playing Far Cry 5 the rest of the benchmarks seem comparable unless overclocking the i5. As for in...
Okay you've convinced me, the extra threads in the Ryzen being more futureproof seems like a big deal for me as i don't plan on upgrading this PC for a long time. Should i get the 3600 or the 3600X ? As for the cooler i really want my system to run as quiet and cool as possible so i'll probably...
The i5 9600k outperforms the 3600x in a lot of the 1440p gaming benchmarks i've seen and i don't intend on using the PC as a workstation at any point so didn't think i would benefit as much from the AMD chips. Is the i5 really such a bad choice..?
After looking at a lot of the advice i was given i changed my order around and thought i'd check my final build on here with you guys. Are there any significant upgrades i could make to the system without going over £1500 that would be worth the money? Gaming on a 1440p 60Hz Monitor at the...
Awesome, thanks again. Considering cancelling my order and re-ordering tomorrow when the RTX Supers are out. For some reason it's almost £80 cheaper if i rebuild my exact same order right now, i'm guessing some parts were discounted recently.
1st Storage Drive
240GB ADATA SU630 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb (520MB/R, 450MB/
You could replace this SSD with an M.2 NVMe SSD instead, the ADATA brand aren't super expensive and the speed increase is meant to be quite good, they're especially useful to install your OS on.
If you don't want to wait for the RTX 2080 Super at the end of the month, the RTX 2060 and 2070 Super are released tomorrow. the RTX 2070 Super is meant to be close in performance to the base 2080 for a lot cheaper. You could use the savings on some decent peripherals and a nice monitor.
The Samsung M2 drive bumps up the price by almost £100, is it worth the increase in performance? I'll make sure to include the silver warranty, thank you :)
Yeah i will be waiting for the RTX 2060 Super to release. Ah i didn't see the cheaper variant of the X570 on there, thanks. Changing motherboards on the AMD build brings it down to £1286 and removing the CPU cooler brings it down just below the Intel build.
If there were any upgrades to make...
Just looking to compare these two builds, let me know any thoughts please. At the moment i'm leaning on the side of the Intel i5 9600k Build. (The RTX2060 will be an RTX2060 Super)
AMD Build:

CORSAIR CARBIDE SERIES™ 275Q QUIET CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core CPU...
When building the comparable AMD system with the R5 3600 its coming out as almost £100 more than my Intel i5 System, i'm guessing because of the motherboard. On benchmarks i've seen as well the I5 9600k outperforms the R5 3600 in a lot of games at 1440P which is the monitor i'll be using.
Looking at some of the benchmarks of the new CPU's online the Intel i5 9600k still looks like a decent choice for my build so i may end up sticking with that since the motherboard for the new AMD CPU's seem to be quite expensive.
I think the RX 5700 XT is meant to be a nice little bump up on the RX 5700 if you want to spend the extra £40 or so. Or you could wait for the RTX 2060 Super coming out on the 9th which is comparable to the RX 5700 XT while having ray tracing i believe.
Looking at your case choice it only comes with 3 front fans, you might want some fans at the back to extract? Wait for an experienced builder to comment though since there are plenty of them on here who helped me with questions i had. Plus with a £1500 budget you could definitely get a better...
I had already placed the order before i learnt about the new CPU's and GPU's that were being released. I spoke to a pcspecialist rep on the phone though and they said they can hold my order until the new GPU (RTX2060 Super) is released.
Also, thanks for the help :)
Hey, not sure if this is the right place to post or not but i was recently attempting to amend my order. I wanted to see what the price would be like if i switched from an Intel CPU to an AMD one. The configurator however doesn't list any of the AMD CPU's, only the Intel ones, is this a bug or...
