They're all pouring in now and looking very very good.

Bear in mind, there will likely be cpu performance benefits as chipset drivers are updated.

Ugh.

1) PCS aren't selling 3000 series CPUs with X470 motherboards, apart from the Asus X470 Plus.

2) And having shunted the 2000 series CPUs to their "home/office" configurator, as well as the remaining stock of 400 series motherboards, you can't buy a 2000 series CPU with fast RAM from PCS any more. They only offer 2400MHz. Even though they are now offering the Crosshair VII in the home/office. So "budget users won't want faster RAM" wouldn't be a valid argument here (and it never was tbh). Never understood that reasoning.

Apart from mini ITX where PCS continue to sell faster RAM with 2000 series CPUs. Because of course they do.

If anyone was waiting for Zen 2 to be out to pick up a "bargain" 2600x etc, well, the prices had already dropped a lot so that was optimistic anyway but you should probably go buy from another store because PCS shoving it all over to the "nerf your CPU with slow RAM" configurator is a very poor show.

3) No PCIe 4.0 SSDs (Corsair MP600 is on sale elsewhere)

4) The good news is that PCS are offering the X570 Gaming X which only costs ~£40 over the rather naff X470-PLUS.

So we can still get an R5 3600 which is ultimately very close to an 8700k for ~£200 less:

When you think an R5 3600x is maybe ~9-10% behind a 9900k at 1080p with an unrealistic GPU for that resolution, and costs £350 less which more or less buys you the upgrade from an RTX 2060 to an RTX 2080...

Looking at some of the benchmarks of the new CPU's online the Intel i5 9600k still looks like a decent choice for my build so i may end up sticking with that since the motherboard for the new AMD CPU's seem to be quite expensive.

When building the comparable AMD system with the R5 3600 its coming out as almost £100 more than my Intel i5 System, i'm guessing because of the motherboard. On benchmarks i've seen as well the I5 9600k outperforms the R5 3600 in a lot of games at 1440P which is the monitor i'll be using.
