I bought a vortex iii elite for £1600 and its crap. Rma requested because it wasnt workin properley kept deleting drivers as it had to keep going into system recovery. Got it back from rma and it seemed good until I downloaded the RIGHT gpu drivers and it crashed restarted and has been in recovery for 1/2 an hour. Did I mention when I first got this it kept saying their was a fault with windows so I had to install it. Very dissapointing.

To be fair,if it was working ok until you installed the "RIGHT" GPU drivers, then it would point to a software issue and not necessarily anything to do with the laptop itself.

Try not to worry about anything to much, i had many problems when i got my first pc, it wasn't anything to do with PcSpecialist just a bit of trial and error on my account. I understand how frustrating it gets but just slow down and ive you still have problems the people on this forum are amazing so either ask us or PcSpecialist their selves. Good luck and merry christmas :)

Do any of you guys know if I can get a refund. Thanks.

From the T&C I think you are able to do that if it is within 7 working days since you received it. I would give PCS a chance to get it sorted before considering a refund.

Hope you get it sorted soon, I had a similar problem and i know it is very frustrating but eventually all the issues were promptly solved by PCS.

Your First RMA:

The laptop powered on first time and launched windows recovery. This was left to run and took around 1-2 hrs once completed the recovery wizard requested to shutdown. This was done and when powered back on the system loaded into windows without issue. Some drivers were missing and have been installed and an overnight burning test has been run and completed without error. The laptop has not cut off and is working correctly.

The incorrect VGA drivers had been installed causing the GPU to not operate correctly. This has been rectified and the laptop is working.

We're very sorry that your computer had to be returned to us. We hope you have no further problems.

I have approved the RMA you have just requested however if this is again a software problem a charge will be made, sadly, although we help as much as we can we cannot be responsible for software problems, incorrect drivers being installed.

If a hardware problem is found the offending part will be changed, I must admit, I suspect this not to be the case.

I would rather not pay for a software problem mainly because the laptop was shipped to me without windows 8 working therefore I had to use the disk given with the laptop to make the laptop work. if I have to pay anymore for the laptop I would and prefer a refund and will not buy from here again.

Could be a simple matter of a corrupt or incompatible driver, have you tried a clean install of the graphics driver.

Try this,it may be slightly different with windows 8.
Open the Control Panel
Select Programs and Features
Select AMD (ATI) Catalyst Install Manager
Click on Change
Click on Next when prompted for the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard forAMD Catalyst Install Manager,
Select Express Uninstall All Software
Follow the on-screen directions and restart the system when finished
To verify that the graphics driver has been uninstalled, return to the Uninstall or Change a Program list and ensure that there is no AMD specific software listed
If AMD specific software is still listed, remove any remaining AMDsoftware components using the above process and restart the system when complete.
Then try installing driver again.
