Do we know if pc specialist will actually offer the 7800x3d? no preorder option for it. Guess no harm in waiting 9 days to see

Some of the choices aren't anything like I would recommend, but there's nothing wrong with the build. The base is covered nicely, but you're spending about £1k you don't need to, and that's only if you have a need for insane GPU performance (Not for 1440p at least), otherwise there's probably £1500+ overspent.

It's only money though :)

A couple of things you should definitely remove: the network card and the USB card. You already have tonnes of USB ports on the motherboard, and you already have 2.5Gb ethernet as well. No sense in spending extra and using up PCIe slots for those things.

What parts would you charge to save some money?

The reason why im over extending with the gpu is because i went with the 1080 and not the 1080ti, which i later ended up regretting, so looking to avoid by getting the best i can

Oh im suprised the builder doesnt raise this, but thank you, will take both the ethernet and usb options out. While i have a budget i am always happy to save some money lol

Technically it's not wrong to have extra network ports and extra USB ports, but the use cases are pretty niche.

If you can share the configurable link I'll happily go in and suggest tweaks.

With regards to the GPU, the difference between the 1080 and the 1080Ti was around £100. For 1440p, you would be looking at a 3070 for a sensible option (£500). Pushing the boat out would be the 3070Ti (£600), ditching the boat entirely for a yacht would be the 4070Ti (£900). Opting for the 4090 (£1550) is like paying for hospitality and then watching the game on your phone in the toilet...... it's a ludicrous overspend. You're £1k over where you need to be for your resolution and almost £700 over where you would irresponsibly spend on that resolution (The 4070Ti is an all day 4k GPU).

I think i will want to stick with the current gen, even if it means spending more. I guess im also counting in the extra gpu usage that ray tracing will use, as from some videos ive watched it can really tank things under4080/90, i know ray tracing is not exactly needed but would be a nice to have lol

This is where I would land with your build. Note that I've removed the SSD, the motherboard can take more M2 drives so I would consider adding this yourself, it'll be much better value than the likes of a conventional SSD drive. The Western Digital drives are excellent and have really good life in them.

The 4070Ti is still huge overkill but it will let you switch on the eye candy and does get you into current generation with DLSS3.0 (Which I can understand with wanting the eye candy switched on).

You're free to purchase whatever you choose of course but you can see the price difference below when I've actually increased the M2 drive price significantly.

"Send in your own case" is an option... It's honestly what I'd choose!

If you select send in your own case on the configurator, a page will open explaining everything, but basically yes you get amazon to send it direct to PCS and include your order number in the address

For my pc order i have noticed that my ram says amd at the end of the ram name, does this actually mean anything? I have thought about changing it to a normal version since it seems to be out of stock/on order but i wanted to understand the difference. Google is not being helpful
