It was these kinds of badges, they were highly coveted by some oddbods. Actually searching for the picture, there are loads for sale on the web, so it's still a thing! Wonder if any of those were sourced by me? I demand royalties!

Got my very first electric car the other week. Interesting bit of kit to say the least. Typical BMW tax and everything is extra. I only went with one pack (Tech + Pack) as I got it on PCH so I'm not speccing and paying for a car for the next owner :ROFLMAO:

Took some pics after giving it a clean. It came up from England on the back of a truck in the rain so even with basic delivery miles it was still needing a wash :ROFLMAO:

I'd admit to owning a Supra if I was lucky enough to own one.......... However, the other thing..........................

Hi, I would have been happy to drive my old French C3 in the UK...

But I learned that if I want to do that, I have to pay for some modifications, some certificates, some fees, some taxes, so, more or less £1500...
To go shopping .. So, how about no ...

So, from now on, I will be driven by chauffeur in one of the most expensive electrical behemot :

My work toy.
DAF XF 530, 6 x 2 mid lift, twin steer.

My car is a bog standard Audi A4 TDI 144 bhp 14 plate.

My bike is a Honda CB900F, 81 plate, 90bhp ish.
My other bike is an '81 BMW R 65 with an R 80 motor in it and a Siderider Saluki sidecar. At best, bhp is about 30.
I put 160,000 miles on it, then it blew up (German junk 😉). I've still got it, one of my retirement projects is to get it back on the road.

The truck has just under 600,000 km on the clock now. That's a bit under the average for a 69 plate, I'd expect over the 600,000 to be honest. By the time I retire, in 3 months time, it will be over that milestone. I work for an International haulage company, but I do a mix of UK and European. We have 4 trucks going to Europe every week, plus me when requred, for extra Euro' work, holiday or sick cover.
The rest of the time I do our UK work. Monday to Wednesday I'll be taking a load down to England, delivering it and reloading for Scotland. The reload is often Naan Bread from Leicester which goes to several different outlets around the Central Belt. Thursday, loading trailers ready to go to Europe on Sunday. Friday is delivering loads my Euro colleagues couldn't do Thursday on their way back to the yard, and collecting the final bits of loads for Europe. That'll only be 2 - 2500km, UK driving is slower, because of traffic volume mainly.
A European week, start Sunday morning, not too early, drive down to Hull for the ferry to Rotterdam. Monday, drive to Switzerland, hopefully get through the border. Tuesday, clear customs, deliver the load, collect your reload for the UK, clear customs outbound and hopefully get a good hour North. Wednesday, collect the final part load for the UK and drive to Rotterdam for the Hull ferry. Thursday, deliver what you can and finish at the yard for your weekend off. That'll be 2500 - 3000 km. I often work Friday as well, because I will be in the UK next week so a Monday start. I also know all our UK customers, so I can get round quicker than someone who doesn't. Another 2 - 300 taking me over 3000km for the week.

It's an easy life this truck driving lark 😂 All you have to do is drive, open the back doors and reverse onto a loading ramp 😂
Yup, and open the curtains, and/or roof, and take out 40 aluminium load support boards, then redo it all back together. Hopefully the forky hasn't damaged your trailer, so it will be rebuildable. We sleep in the truck, wherever we can find somewhere to park. In the UK you're likely to have someone slash your curtains, to see if there's anything worth stealing. Or your diesel tank can be siphoned, so don't fill up just before parking up. Lock your fuel cap? I've known diesel thieves punch a hole through the bottom of the tank, they didn't even bother tryng the cap. In Europe, near the ferry ports, ie less than 400km away, we're concerned about stowaways trying to get to the UK. UK will fine us up to £10,000 per stowaway. UK customs also can fine us up to £10,000 if we don't seal the trailer. But stowaways usually get in through the trailer roof, with help. If it's sealed there's no way to check if anyone has got inside.
We do this every day, in sun or wind and rain or snow, it makes no difference. The load is expected to be delivered on time. "You should have left earlier!", I can't leave earlier than the ferry opens it's loading doors. "Driven faster", a truck has a limiter fitted, set at no more than 90kmh (56mph), if I can cover 800km in a day that's a good days driving, I managed 856km, once 😲 A mate was killed when his truck blew over on the M6, another work mate was right behind him when it went over. He never recovered from seeing it happen. You need eyes in the back of your head. We get cut up every day. Or someone will decide we've held them up, so they'll brake check us. 40+ tonnes, moving at 90km takes a lot of stopping, and a long time to get back up to speed. Or someone will leave their car on a corner, "cos they're only nipping in for a paper". But a truck now can't get around that corner, because the trailer cuts into the corner and won't get past it. We are constantly making adjustments, so we don't kill some idiot who wants to save themself a second or two, or someone who just makes a mistake. We make mistakes as well, we're only human. But if we make a bad enough mistake, we can kill.
I won't miss it once I retire. March this year, bring it on 🙂
