Definitely no 8 pin cables. A spare 6 pin PCIe +2, and a 6 pin to 3 x daisy chained 4 pin SSD power plugs. A visit to Curry's tomorrow then 😥

Sorry, no. The 2 pin has extra tags as part of the molding. They won't fit into the 8 pin sockets.
Does it look like this?

They do indeed. My deepest apologies for doubting you sir.
I now have 14 pins inserted in 14 holes, 6 + 6 + 2. It took some time, the last 8 pin socket on my PSU was in the inside column. So to get to it I had to remove quite a few plugs, then get them back in again. Not easy with 2 left hands.

It seems to be a fantastic upgrade over my retired setup. Although I'd be rather hacked off if it wasn't tbf 😊
This wide screen is amazing after a 22" 😂

I already had a busy week this week, so sorting everything out is going rather slower than I'd like. W11 is taking a bit of getting used to as well. And all work with no play is no fun either, so I'm not exactly breaking my neck trying to figure everything out quickly. It won't take a lot of time, but it will take some. I should be ready by Friday I reckon.

Last night I played the game which prompted me to buy this new build. Days Gone.
It was utterly fantastic 😆😆😆
So the money spent on this new computer, to play a £20 game, was well spent 🤣

I had no idea how much detail was missing on my old computer 😲
I've also been active on the Steam Discussion Page for DG. There seems to be a LOT of people posting about how the game runs badly on their gaming rigs, so I had a bit of trepidation. But no, it ran flawlessly for 2 or 3 hours of constant game play.

I had my Flu and Covid jabs on Sunday morning. All was well, a slightly sore shoulder from the actual injections, same as I've had for the last 2 annual boosters. Then Tuesday evening it hit me like a tonne of bricks, I was shivering so much I had trouble drinking my medicinal whisky
I felt ok by Thursday evening, but absolutely zero energy to do anything. I'm still the same. Sitting here, typing this, I feel fine. But earlier, I had to drag myself round the supermarket, I was almost out of everything. Coffee and whisky supplies were good, but all the other essentials were not (bread and bacon).
Best bit till last. My HGV licence has been returned to me :) I can go back to work and earn a decent wage again.
This last 15 months has been 'interesting'. Initially I could hardly do anything, because of the after effects of a stroke. As I recovered from that, more and more things became open to me. It's ended up being a 'practise' year for retirement. 2 more years and I can do that full time, quite happily. If I could afford to, I'd retire now.

Wholehearted congratulations to you on getting the license back, that's fantastic news (y)

And awesome news with Days Gone. I think that's the whole point that can make giving people advice quite challenging, often when an improvement is recommended and they come back saying "oh I have no need for this, I only play basic games", it's almost ALWAYS because of exactly that, they don't understand what they're missing out of, and often for the sake of maybe £100 here or there.

I'm so pleased though, that's the main purpose of the PC as a success, I have no doubt you're going to continue to be pleasantly surprised for years to come, it's a really good investment you've got there.

I think the whole group here should be congratulated. A complete and total success story :D

So the next thing is, what should I upgrade my graphics card too ?? 😲 🤣
I think I can wait a year or so, see how the new Radion graphics cards compare to the Nvidea 40xx .

Well, this is the huge question atm on everyones lips.

Await 3rd party reviews of course is advice to anyone, but AMD's price announcements are extremely compelling, we'll see how well they perform in Ray Tracing and upscaling in December. But if they can even average say 90fps with full ray tracing at higher Superwide for me, then I'm in hook line and sinker.

But until we've got 3rd party reviews it's anyones guess. I for one though refuse to pay nVidia's asking prices on 4000 series, and also refuse to buy 2 year old models at pretty much full price. And the Intel cards just don't size up on the driver front as yet, they're still essentially alpha drivers really.
