Hey there , a quick question I have , will a Ryzen 3600 and rtx 2060 in the NZXT 510 case cause significant overheating. Looking to buy a custom build when available but I know the case doesn’t have the best airflow. Should I include more fans or switch out the cpu cooler before buying? I’m also not opposed to undervolting if need be. Appreciated :)

Have you changed your specs then?

Can you post what they are now?

Didn’t realise you would comment on another of my posts , the specs are the same just a different case :)
Ah perfect, yeah, while the NZXT isn't INCREDIBLE, it's certainly very capable at the budget, it would be fine for your build.

Appreciated , would you recommend that I add another fan in just for slightly cooler temps or should it be fine?
I would leave it as it is for now, then if you face any issues (which is very unlikely) it's really easy to add another yourself.

Hi there , unfortunately pcs has no 2060’s in stock atm so my custom build will be delayed for order until the 8th of April. My pricepoint is around £1,000 for the rig and will primarily be used for competitive gaming and work. If anyone could create a rig that’d be better suited for the tasks than I have I’d greatly appreciate it. A few specs I picked out just so you know
- NZXT 510 (black or white)
- Ryzen 5 3600
- RTX 2060
- 16gb (3600mhz) ram

My follow up question is that should I pick up a cheap 240hz monitor as I intend to optimise most games I play and if that doesn’t work , i could always change the refresh rate back down to 144hz. Best of both worlds right? If so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry for the lengthy post , just want to be thorough : )

Appreciate it but I’ve mentioned that I couldn’t post specs or monitor as I’d like suggestions for them

Give it a try! Spec a pc build to what you think would be nice and we will help nudge you in the right direction to optimise your monitor with the build! :)

A build is based around a monitor, you mention 240MHz, the monitor that springs to mind for that refresh rate is the G9 and that comes in at about £1100..............

You can get 240hz monitos a lot cheaper then that. AOC do a few 1080 240hz monitors for around 300 then a 1440 240hz for £540. And as OP mentioned competitive gaming I think a 1080 or 1440 will be fine as they normally play on low settings for Max FPS?. I can't imagine trying to play CSGO on a G9

I want to try run. 240fps on optimised game settings if possible (I had to put in the 3060 as a placeholder but originally I intend to go for the 2060) if anyone could do any better please all suggestions would be appreciated :)

With a 2060, this build comes to 1,072.

The NZXT isn't the best for cooling as has been pointed out before. I've changed to the PCS spectrum RGB as it has much better cooling at a lower price point, although some reviews have said the fans are a little loud. If you'd like to spend more on the case, I'd recommend the 4000D and a couple of extra fans for a subtle look and a 220T if you like unicorn puke.

Other main points of change:
B550 Motherboard instead of B450
256gb SSD is now an M.2 for faster speeds and changed the 1tb to 2tb as it's only an £11 increase for double the storage and 4x the cache
Gold rated PSU has been put in and at 100 W more as it'll mean it has more scope for upgrades and will be more comfortable for your
system
Upgraded Wifi card for faster bandwith and bluetooth
Added the silver warranty, well worth the £5

Your best bet would be trying to source yourself a 3060 on its release. Depending on its price, it could be well worth for your budget

Quick question , apparently the 2060 is no longer in production as the 3060 superseded it. It’s a shame as I was about to order my build just as they ran out of stock and now I don’t know what to do. If what was said about the 3060 taking over I don’t really mind as the msrp was meant to be the same if not cheaper than the 2060 however the 3060 right now is about £50-£100 more. Should I wait?

If you can, wait. I'm (being impatient and fighting with myself) still waiting from November with my already 10 years old laptop. It sometimes fails to load, sometimes crashes, constantly overheats and sometimes turns off itself but I'll squeeze absolutely the last juice of it. I'm backing up my files in two different storages (cloud hourly + external drive once a month). If you don't need it for work and can wait, hold on for until June/July or September, worst case until the end of the year - prices should stabilise. Maybe we'll see a new 5600 CPU and 3050Ti or some AMD equivalents for 1080p... It should be better. But before it gets better it should get worse, and I think we're reaching this tip now. We can judge better by looking how prices will creep within the next 2-3 months, especially between April and July.
