Stock on pre-production order

I do know that the prices change all the time, presumably as the prices of components that PCS buy in change. I've no idea how the current stock shortages are affecting price movements - but it's unlikely to be downwards. Equally I don't know how they manage 'refunds' when you modify your order nor whether there is a some sort of processing fee.

I do know that constantly amending your order is not a sensible way to go about buying a PC. If you ask on here, specifying what you'll use it for, what your budget is, what monitor(s) you'll be using, etc. then you'll reap the benefit of the collective knowledge and experience of a good many people who know what they're talking about.

That way you can tweak your spec with the assistance of the people on here so that when you come to place an order you already know that you're getting exactly what you need within your budget and there will be no need for amendments. Of course, if parts are out of stock then changes will be necessary, but that's a bridge you can only cross when you come to it.

I'm also on day 18 as of today. Similar spec to previous poster, but I have the 2080Ti, which is apparently the only thing they're waiting on coming into stock (as of yesterday) - this according to a request for an update from PCS.

I modified my original order and had email contact from PCS about 7-10 days later asking for my bank details so they could refund the difference; duly arrived within a day or two.

So if the parts go out of stock after the order was made, do they email you about it straight away? So that you have the option to change or wait.

I can only speak of my own experience but no, it doesn’t seem so. I believe they should contact you once you’re at the build stage. I guess its this way because their stock replenishment is all over the place (due to already highlighted global supply issues). It just wouldn’t be practical to update customers during pre production, especially as lead times are so long at the moment.

What you can do is put your spec into the builder, as a new build, and it’ll let you know there if things are out of stock (once you click proceed).

That's a very good idea! [emoji846]

In my experience, if parts are out of stock at build time they will contact you to see whether you want to wait or select an alternative. Though do bear in mind that under the unusual working arrangements they have now that might not be as slick as it has been.
