Stock on pre-production order

I've had my PC in production for the last couple of weeks and it's now moved from build to testing (I'm guessing PCS had the stock lying around and I upgraded the hard drive to the 500GB Samsung high speed SSD up from 256GB as the latter was listed in stock)

I can say that if you see an orange status it means the parts are in stock, but there are more orders to stock parts available which could result in delays (I never saw an out of stock alert when changing components)

Where would you see the 'orange' status?

Thanks for all the info everyone. I've amended my order 22 times now so I think I'm probably screwed :)

What I've found is that making any edits to the order such as upping or downing the PSU is more expensive than it woul db eon the configurator. I had to get the 1000w RMx as others sold out - if i try to knock down to the 850w RMX then it would only refund £16 - rather than the £48 difference in price on the configurator.

I dont know if they penalise any swapping after the initial order or if this is just for the in demand parts...?

I mean there is an actual difference in the price not just the fluctuation day to day. The configurator shows the 1000 RMx as £178 - which is what i have on my build. The 850 is on configurator for £130.

Yet if i try to amend my order to knock it down then it only suggests a refund of £16 - so feels like there is some additional fee in there as short changed by £32 - for difference of £16 ill just hold on to the 1000.

Same if i go the other way - the 1200 HX is £209 - so only £31 more than my 1000x in my build. but if i try to amend the order its asking for £63. That would be £32 more than if i had just selected it in the first place? So feels like a fee for a change

Playing with the configurators a little it seems the description price is £1-2 off in each case but not enough to affect what seems to be a substantial difference above?

Oh no - well I mustn't have been keeping a track of my spending as well as I should. If this is the case that's a right markup after 22 changes...

Yeh i would've thought you'd have noticed it which made me think maybe its just on the high demand items or something right now 🤷‍♂️

I don’t think that exists on PCS. It does on overclockers but never noticed it here. It would certainly make my life easier if they adopted a red/amber/green system. Losing track of the number of changes I’ve made (although it’s less than 22!)

Ive just checked the one change I made before and if i reverse the changes then it would 'refund' the same amount back to me so i dunno - maybe its just been done on PSU changes?

Can anyone confirm this is true? That's potentially hundreds of pounds down the pan for me.

It doesn’t look like it to me. I’ve just totted up my order (including changes) and ran the current order through as a new system and it’s coming out more or less the same. It was fag packet stuff though. If you are concerned I’d run a similar exercise yourself.

Swapping in my own 32GB of 3200Mhz RAM though!

I'm just concerned after all the swapping them a lot of these parts are going to be out of stock, especially the PSU.

Currently on Day 18 of pre-production...

Very nice. My build is similar but slightly less grunt than yours. Also on day 18 here. At least we’ve done the majority of the waiting.
