SSD disappeared when I plugged my old M.2 in?

So I recently got a another PC from here, and took some parts from my old one to plug in. I went on the PC to check if everything is good first, and installed some things before putting my M.2 in. However, now that I have, the new SSD seemingly can't be found. Checking Disk Management, it's not there, and Device Manager says that there's a few devices with unknown drivers.

I think the new SSD I got is a PC Specialist exclusive one, and I imagine I need drivers for it, though i'm not sure, since it worked before. My downloads page on my account didn't show any drivers for that though, only for some Win10 fixes and my Wireless card drivers.

Could anyone assist me on this? Thanks.

SSD According to the order:
512GB PCS 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb (520MB/R, 450MB/W)

There's the screenshot, and I can't say which M.2 I installed because that was on my dad's account, so I don't have the reciept or anything. It was also from PC Specialist though

@ExpiredBreadlet Just a query, the M.2 that you added, did that also have Windows on it, if so do you know which one its actually booting from?

I'm wondering if its now booting from that one (that you took from the other machine - or was it not from there) and since its not setup properly for your new machine it could be causing all kinds of weird problems.

Very good point 👍🏼

Backup and format which ever one you are aren't going to be using for the system drive, then copy back any CONTENT you want on it, so it doesn't have an OS on it, then do a clean install of windows on the other drive following these instructions:

Download a new copy of Windows using the Media Creation Tool to an 8GB (min) USB.
Boot that USB and choose a Custom Install.
Delete all UEFI partitions on the system drive (EFI System, Recovery, MSR Reserved, Primary).
Select the unallocated space that results and click the Next button. The installer will create the correct partitions and install Windows.
Run Windows Update repeatedly, even across reboots, until no more updates are found.
You may need/want to download and install the latest graphics driver from the Nvidia/AMD website (they change so regularly the latest version isn't always in the Windows libraries).

This may be stupid of me, but how would I format a drive I can't access or see anywhere?

Also, from the bios boot settings, the only options in the boot option priorities are:

- UEFI PXE IPv4 Intel Ethernet Controller
- UEFI PXE IPv6 Intel Ethernet Controller
- Windows Boot Manager M.2

I've looked around in the bios and actually can't see the new drive at all

Ok lets take a step back, run windows update and install all possible updates, including the optional ones till everything is installed and configured, and see if those unknown devices go away, if not then log into your account and see if you can see the chipset drivers for your machine, and then install them

Done all the windows updates for windows, still nothing, but I found the SSD name: samsung mzvpw256hegl-0000
Samsung's DC tool doesn't want to open, and closes instantly

Sorry this has gotten to complicated, didn't expect this 😕

Rubber mounting pad came pre-installed, and the new Ssd is in Sata6G_56 which I think was the only one available

Also the M2 is in the bottom slot of the two

I think that is your problem.

SATA ports 5/6 are disabled when socket 2 is used for m.2 drives. I'm not sure if the top or bottom socket is labelled as no.2, but I would suggest putting the m.2 drive in the higher socket and see if you have the same issue. I would've suggested plugging the SSD in sata 1 through 4 if they are available as that would have been the easier way to test.

Edit: just found online manual for your board and even more convinced that is the issue. If you check page 10 it confirms SATA ports 5/6 are disabled when lower m.2 socket is used
