Really exciting one today, Part 1 of the vinyl sampler of his Origins album which was released a couple of years ago.

Only 300 made! Activa is one of the leading progressive trance producers of our time. Everything he's ever done is knock out.

Edit: DAMN this is good! This guy can't put a foot wrong.

This is the Armada Music 20th Anniversary box set with 4 disks

There are some incredible titles on here, and some one off new remixes done just for this set.

I felt rather special as well as I got a private invite to buy a couple of weeks before it went on public sale, although I'm sure that went out to all subscribers and it wasn't Armin Van Buuren going out of his way to find me and write me a personal invite, but I'll continue to delude myself if you don't mind 😀

The only thing that concerns me is they've packed quite a few tunes onto each side which likely means they're the short radio versions.

But its a nice set to have anyway.

Edit: Just checked my certificate of authenticity that's with it, they only made 500 which for a release like this of quite a major anniversary of a major label, that's absolutely nothing. I do feel even more special now!

A couple of great ones today.

An original 1978 Chic - C'est Chic in NM condition, the cover is a little worn but the record spindle hole makes it look as though it's unplayed.
Such an incredible album.

And Owl City - Ocean Eyes, just been reissued, this album is very hard to get hold of and goes for crazy money as it's quite limited

I referenced the track I'm after here: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...es-that-still-make-you-move.81374/post-712869

2 really cool ones

The latest reissue of Earth, Wind & Fire - That's The Way Of The World, this is the Impex version which is supposed to sound incredible

And one I've been after since @Tron1982 advised me of these releases early last year.
Hugh Laurie - Didn't It Rain, this one is far harder to get at a reasonable cost than the first album, so I've been hunting for the right deal for some time. It's all out legitimate deep southern big band blues, although by a white man, but I really admire his dedication to the roots.

So, how does the Hugh laurie vinyl sound ?
Absolutely amazing, no joke, one of the best sounding records in my collection. It's like an old 1960's copy done on valve cutting rigs, the sound is so full, amazing dynamics, just superb, completely flat vinyl, everything about it is top notch.

And musically, I adore the first one too, but I do think this album is better, there's more variation to it.

This so far is the best album I've picked up this year, and last year I think was his first album, so huge thank you to you for the recommendation!

U2 - Achtung Baby, the 30th Anniversary copy.

I wasn't going to bother with this one, because I have an original in good condition, and a later repress, but they've just announced the upcoming Zooropa 30th Anniversary and the completionist in me had to have them both.

So this is a grail for me, I've been after a good original copy of this for years, but just waited for the right one, and got it at about half the price most people would charge for this quality.

Janes Addiction - Janes Addiction, original US 1987 on Triple X records with no barcode. I adore this album, this is my favorite of theirs and the album that introduced me to them, it holds a lot of fond memories. They did a few reissues, but not since 1991, and the original is definitely the copy to have. I'm absolutely stoked. This is stone cold NM, still in original shrink wrap with the import sticker, the guy said he'd only played it once and I believe him looking at the record and the spindle hole. Absolutely chuffed.

And also the 2020 Rhino reissue of The Cure - Disintegration which is supposed to sound very good, originals are far too expensive

Bit of a Jamiroquai venture as there have been some good anniversary reissues recently.

The Travelling Without Moving 25th Anniversary

The Emergency on Planet Earth National Album Day 2022 version, this is essentially the 30th anniversary copy, and supposed to be fantastic, incredible album

A Funk Odyssey, just a standard reissue, but JK is such a vinyl enthusiast that they're all really high quality.

Jesus, I get quite giddy when things like this turn up!

Ok, so before we introduce these, absolutely major thanks to @AgentCooper for giving me an education on some important early blues artists. I'm a ginormous fan of the blues sound generally, but really know very little about it other than more modern artists like Clapton or Steve Ray Vaughan. Not to diminish their work, but I really wanted to discover the roots of such a soulful and impactful genre that's come about from severe hardship and oppression.

So this is the first artist that @AgentCooper had on his list that I chose to hunt some down.

These are part of a 3 part series, I'll have to find part one separately. But these were both from one lovely US seller on eBay who said they'd come from his grandfathers collection which his Dad never touched and he's just not into.

Looking at all the records in these, I have a sneeking suspicion they've actually NEVER been played, they look brand new, and I've added a photo of one of the spindle holes (when placing on the spindle it gets a lot of friction and leads to tearing of the label at the very minimum. These look absolutely pristine, and further evidence of this is that the Part 2 box has a paper label that's glued from the front round to the back, although the lid comes off entirely, but that label is still fully intact. There's a tiny bit of paper dust over the surface of the records which is unavoidable on a 60 year old record, but the grooves look completely clean

It's the quality as well, Stereo was only released to the public in 1958, and they were so expensive that only Doctors and Lawyers and serious Gentry could afford either the equipment (as you needed double the speakers, double the amps (as they were all mono blocks), so it literally doubled your system cost, and then the records themselves as a new technology were extremely expensive. And you can tell on these early stereos too, the card stock is about double the thickness of anything from mid 60's onwards, the inserts are all hand typed on typewriter and then block printed. It's beautiful attention to detail through and through. The labels particularly excite me (I'm such a geek!)

I'm a bit blown away, the condition of these for such early Stereo copies is quite frankly just one of those things you never come across. And they really weren't expensive at all considering what they are.

These sessions were all recorded back to back in 1948, Part 3 is actually the 3rd part of Part 1 confusingly, with Part 2 following on although Part 3 was released a decade later to parts one and 2

But Leadbelly's early works start in 1939, he appears to be one of the godfathers of blues.

Leadbelly – Leadbelly's Last Sessions Part Two ( 1962 repress, original release 1953)

Leadbelly – Leadbelly's Last Sessions Part Three (1962 Original)
