Quite disappointed with the service I have received with PC Specialist (RESOLVED)

I'd suggest dropping the Overclock completely to see what the temps are like then, both at stock Idle and stock speeds under prime 95 load.

Yeah we did that before over the phone and it was still hitting 90 and above under full load.

There is something going awry if the CPU is hitting 90 degrees when gaming. It's unlikely that a game which will push the CPU that much, which means your CPU is overheating due to the temperature difference inside/outside the case. Or was the 90degrees when gaming a report of your temperature?

I'd still suggest giving what tom suggested a try, even though you've already tried it. You should NOT hit 90 degrees under full load on stock frequencies.

Just spoke to Jack on the phone and was very helpful, its going back in again for RMA and hopefully this time it can be sorted once and for all thank you Jack.

I would wager that there's something wrong with the H100i if OP is hitting 90C on full load at stock. Perhaps it's not pumping quite right, internally? That may explain why it was fine before but isn't now.

This is a new cooler only just put on during the RMA before I had a H100

Somebody recently had this problem with a new cooler until it started pumping properly, then temps were fine.

Still had the same issue with the old cooler though to be honest.

You said it was fine for a couple of months? Maybe the old cooler packed up and the new one just hasn't been 'broken in' yet? I don't know, just remember reading something similar a week or two ago.

It was stable at 4.6ghz until we changed the ram to xmp then it became unstable and no matter what we did after that it still kept hitting 90, I spoke with jack on the phone anyway and he told me at 4ghz with my particular setup I should not be hitting these kind of temps so hopefully it will be sorted in the next day or two, said he is going to swap out the components and look at it himself.

Ok just for reference this are the temps after running prime 95 small ftt test for 3 mins...

These are the temps after 10 mins gaming

If I run prime 95 for more than 10 mins I am hitting 90 and the room temperature here is 22 degrees, I cannot even really show and accurate representation of temperatures because once one of the cores hits 90's the throttle kicks in and they stabilize which has a huge performance impact on whatever I am doing (gaming at this point in time)

This is with the clocks at 4Ghz and the ram at 1600

You can imagine after 30 mins what the temps are.

Please let us know what happened and how things are sorted out after you receive your RMA

Its useful to know why and how PCS resolved the matter

Fingers crossed!!!!

Pretty much this. 4.6GHz is going to be hot no matter what - although hopefully more like 80C than 90C. Plus depending on the individual chip you may not even be able to get it stable at those speeds.

However 4GHz is a fairly modest overclock so there really shouldn't be any stability issues and you have plenty of cooling to avoid it getting overly hot.

My first thoughts are that the cooling isnt working as it should. Either because the cooler itself isn't working properly or because the block isn't properly attached to the CPU.

Is it possible that it could be an issue with the actual cpu itself do you think? Or maybe even the MOBO?

I don't think temperature is the issue, just a symptom/side effect.

We'll replace the CPU when it gets back for good measure.

Sounds like a plan feel a lot more confident now that you are overseeing the RMA and if it comes back like it was when it first came out to me then yes you will be very awesome indeed haha
