Poor Wifi Speeds

Taken delivery of my new Optimus Pro XI last week and I'm having a massive issue with the wifi, my other two laptops gave the same speed when wired as they do on the wifi but this PRO XI gets appauling speeds. Currently downloading from steam at 382.9 kbps, normally this should be around >4.0MBs (comparing my other laptop), having reset the router, changed it. tried all channels on 2.4/5ghz nothing has worked.

To confirm this download speed is universal across other platforms, downloading from dropbox and other sources are poor speeds, not just steam?

Steam, battle.net, any download performed, even surfing the net is slow and sometimes unrepsonsive, pressing f5 an awful lot when pages do not repsond. This does NOT occur on any other device in the house, phones, tv streaming, other laptops etc. Just this Pro XI

First pic is current download speed on Steam, 2nd pic is what i'm seeing every time I try to load a page.

Wifi speed test - https://www.speedtest.net/result/9389801089
Wired Speed test - https://www.speedtest.net/result/9389816964

Wifi test - https://www.speedtest.net/result/9389834048

Im 8feet away from my router, there is no electrical interference between my laptop and the router, the tests above are ran on the same channels one after the other. Both laptops have been tested on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz, consistently the Pro XI is miles behind.

When you reinstalled windows how did you install drivers? Where did you source them?

Updated through device manager for the latest drivers, this has made it worse.

I cannot permanently plug into the router no. For testing yes but permanently not a chance, not with 2 small wire loving children in the house :p

I am RMA'ing the laptop anyway due to the fan issue, this is just another thing thats making me rethink my choices and wondered if I could fix it all myself and not have to go through that process.

I just meant for testing, not permanently.

If you go into device manager, delete the current wireless device and reboot. That will install the latest one, if not, youlll need to plug into the router and run windows update.

Done that, its literally made it worse. After a few BSOD, finally rebooted, updated all drivers through windows. Im going to take it as this Wifi card is very poor. Thanks for trying to help.

There's an issue that needs fixing. It's not the fact that that's just how it works, there's something wrong that needs addressing.

But yeah, if you've got an RMA then might as well get PCS to troubleshoot.

The BSOD Doctor
Windows installed - although I've had to reinstall as per PCS instructions to solve the fan problem.
Was that a clean install via bootable media deleting all existing partitions? If not then I would advise that you do that, it's the only reliable way to ensure that you have a fully clean system.

That you're getting BSODs strongly suggests that you don't have a clean system. Before RMAing any computer it's wise to clean install Windows to ensure it's not a software problem.

Will try that, I cant even play anything online now as its just constantly disconnecting. Going to try the "clean" install.

Full clean install has done nothing. All the bugs I've mentioned, WiFi, fans, headphone socket (difference convo), are still present. I think I'll be requesting a refund.
