Poor Wifi Speeds

Is that a serious question? I followed ubuysa's instructions. Full clean install via USB created media, deletion of all partions.

Sorry that was pretty grumpy of me, I know you're just trying to help. After serveral reboots and making sure all updates via windows updates have been installed, WiFi appears normal. Shouldnt have taken all this messing around to get normal WiFi speeds though.

Fans are still an issues, they dont change unless "fan boost" is applied, no gaming laptop I've ever come across has such poor functionality that you cant adjust the fans. Their excuse that the cooling is sufficient enough and its operating as normal I just dont buy. I would like not to be sat with a small cooker on my lap or at my table or feel like I need to turn on the jet engine just to cool it down.

I do sometimes wonder if people understand what they’re buying when they choose a custom PC or laptop. It’s by no means the same experience of buying off the shelf, you’re supposed to know basic windows and driver administration. You will have to do this kind of thing a lot, you’ll also have to maintain the hardware with regular clean outs and repastes. It is quite common for the initial windows setup to fail. It’s a Microsoft issue, not a PCS issue.

This has been raised with them. It’s a brand new chassis and they’re investigating with the manufacturer. BIOS fan profiles are often not correct on first iterations for a new chassis.

So if, after the fully clean install of Windows and the Windows Update drivers, you still have problems then it's most likely a hardware problem.

A call to PCS is your best option now I'm afraid.

Ive been building pcs for 15 years and probably rebuilt from scratch every 3 years. I know how to troubleshoot, basic windows, setting up firewalls, pc security and messing with drivers. I have never ever had so much faff with a personal system, they just work. Work systems are another story though lol.

I'm proficient enough scouring Google for issues but this is the first time I've not built my own system as I now don't have space for a tower build, I expected the testing and QA part of the build to find these issues, especially the fan issue.

Its interesting to know its a new chassis, I would have thought they would have stress tested it enough to find all the kinks and the quirks, imo fans not kicking in under high temps is a unique quirk to me, especially for a gaming laptop

The laptop is getting picked up tomorrow. Thanks for your help Spyder/Ubuysa.
