Planning to buy a laptop in around a month, got some questions

Sorry, i just saw my mistake in my answer (it was late, okay, i lack of sleep XD)
Anyway, replace the word "cpu" by "psu" and you have the same answer about the need of the 2 power "brick" or power supply units in the previous answer
Sorry @Conrad-N7 about the misleading answer ...

Please do note that the recoil 15 is a tongfang chassis and the recoil 17 is a clevo chassis

If you have any question, please tell me, and if i can answer, i'll do it ^^

What's the difference between the 2?

What's the difference between the 2?

From what i saw on the forum, it's look like tongfang is a manufacturer that did (do ?) chassis with some small "non fatal" flaw, like peeling letter on the keyboard ...
But, they have a little better spec than clevo to counterbalance those flaws
(that's why the valeon or the 15" recoil have a better screen for exemple)

oh, and i don't know if you saw, but the 15" recoil and the valeon have an unusual keyboard letter arrangement on the numpad
(but again, it's not really a flaw ^^)

I need more details about these things. I got my money recently so I'm gonna be buying pretty soon

Hello @Conrad-N7 , i don't really know what to add in fact
(i mean, after my message in this topic and in my review)

If you want to take a look about tongfang chassis "flaws" (again, it's not really bad, just something that can "bother" you), you just have to do a research about this specific term on the forum (you may want to take a look about "valeon", "ionico" or "tongfang")

Finally, like i said in my "long" post in this thread, i'm not trying to push you in one direction or one other, i just tried to give you all the informations i could gather about the laptop here and i'm sticking about the conclusion i gave you in the previously mentionned long post
(i was in your shoes some months ago, i was wondering wich one between the two would fit my need best, but some of the caracteristics of the valeon were "no-go" for me, as the keyboard or the "hinge" of the screen, or, lastly, the fact that i have some reserve about tongfang, but this is strictly personnal choice)

So, what i can say for sure is that i don't regret my purchase with the recoil

To the moderators, i hope this message is not going too "far", i tried to stay as factual as i could

Oh I don't mind. The extra info are what keep me from being screwed over by flaws and what not. Rn I'm still stuck between a valeon 17 inch and a 15 inch recoil. I keep finding out a lot of things so I need more info

OK, the hell?

I just checked the benchmarks on the forums for the various laptops. How the hell is a 3080 valeon doing worse than a 3070???

OK now im confused as hell

Ah, and also benchmarks seem to show the Intel i7 from recoil 15 inch as better compared to that ryzen 9 that is available. Like at least 3-4% and Intel costs less as well. Is it cuz of the threads?

There is no issue at all with anyone commenting on their personal experiences, good or bad. Factual, evidence-based comments of any flavour are welcome.

You don't have to be nice to PCS or their products on these forums, you just have to stick to what you know to be true. :)

Super Star
I've the recoil 15.6" and I can say that is a beast (speaking of brute power), the 5900hx is the best mobile processor you can buy at the moment unless you're only interest is gaming. For gaming Intel is almost always better. I use my laptop not for gaming but for scientific research and because the major of the programs that I use benefit from multi-thread the 5900hx is doubtless better. But intel has some tools that amd doesn't have like Thunderbolt 4 or PCIe 4.0. For me these aren't much important but if you are interested in super fast M2 like 980 pro or some firecuda it could be the choise.
For the GPU it's not just a speech of 3070 or 3080 but you have to look at the power of the GPU (a 3080 can go from 80W in some laptop to 165W in other laptop, in example my 3070 can go at 140W and that is more than some 3080 in certain laptops) and at the construction. More space a pc has to dissipate the heat, more power it can produce; so a bigger laptop can surpass a smaller laptop in benchmark although the latter has some better specs.

Hello again,

So, after my review of the recoil 17 (clevo) and the data provided by @Vergaro98 of the recoil 15 (tongfang), i think we may say the better choices are those 2
To continue from what was said, the "bigger" the laptop, the better the heat management will be, that may why the 3070 valeon may be better than the 3080 valeon (because the 3080 heat more than the 3070, so the heat impact the perfomances ^^")

Anyway, to be totaly honest with you, i'd go for the 17 recoil, even if this choice come with a cost (money and power supply gestion wise) but, it also come with peace of mind i'd say (and a long lasting laptop ^^).
But, in the end, the choice is yours ^^

Unfortunately can't go for a recoil 17 since it's like 500 pounds above my budget and tbh not sure I want to downgrade options on a recoil when I could get max spec recoil 15

Just to get an understanding why an RTX 3080 might perform less in the Valeon compared to the Recoil 17" I`ve posted a pic of the cooling of my Valeon with the RTX3070 , the cooling is the same for the RTX3080 Valeon . As the picture shows the cooling system has it`s limitations.

Hearing that make's me thankful that I got myself a cooling pad for my valeon 17.3 RTX 3080 laptop.
