PC crashing BSOD

@Nursemorph i might need some of that music to keep my moral up lol.

Just got off the phone to PCS and they offered i could just send the RAM back but i opted to send the whole machine back.
Want it finally looked at, the PCS warranty cannot be used even thought i raised it with them a few weeks after i got the machine because it was fine in some stages (This was obvs when i wasnt using the PC much).

So parts will get replaced under manufacturers warranty, hoping I wont have to pay out.
RMA process will hopefully take 3-4 week :/
Oh that sucks.

Didn't you ask them to swap the RAM some time ago? I know I suggested it - I still think that's where the problem lies. You're wise to send the whole thing back though, just for peace of mind.

Yeah I said back then it was okay so they said see how it goes and if it happens again let us know but I wasn't using the PC much at that time so it wasn't obvs putting it under enough stress for the issue to occur

Then we warranty run out and I've been speaking to you lot since it's faster support lol. Yeah don't want them to send me new RAM for it to then have the same issue haha. They said it's either RAM or motherboard.

I'll just have to use my switch or PS4 while I wait.

@ubuysa - PC been dispatched back to me. Hopefully all fine as stated my PCs 🙂

The RMA on your system has been completed. We found that your system had an issue with its RAM that was causing your restarting issue. We have replaced this stick, upgraded your bios to the latest edition online and also as a precaution we have replaced your CPU. After these repairs we found that your system no longer faced any further problems. To ensure that your system had no further issues we have ran your system on a stress test period for 24hrs which it has now passed. We will now begin your systems dispatch process.

Good news!

I suspected it was a RAM issue......

Hi guys,

The first night I used my pc I turned it off as usual from Windows start button.
I don't turn the back of the PC off.

In the morning I went to turn it on and nothing happend. No lights nothing.
I noticed the RGB light is still on, on my motherboard so it must be getting power.

I tried the power button a few times but nothing.
I turned the back of the PC off waited about 10mins, turned it back on and as soon as I hit power button it booted up as normal....

Im so confused, PCs said they updated my bios aswell when it got sent back can this be causing it? It never done it before.

My PC is plugged directly into a power outlet and i have no issues with the PC when it's running. Been playing a few games and I've had no issue.

I also checked my pc power options and it's on a high performance power plan, should it be ok balanced or is high best for gaming etc?

I don't know if I should make a new post about it?
Any advice would be appreciated.

It's odd because sometimes it turns on striaght away.

@ubuysa let me know if you think I should make a new post instead

It's fine here, this is your thread.

I think that may just have been a random glitch, though if it happens again contact PCS ASAP. That can only be a hardware issue.

You say it's plugged directly into a wa outlet? That's not a good idea, you should have a surge protector between the PC and wall socket. Failure to use a surge protector might invalidate your warranty.

From the Terms & Conditions https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/terms/
7.4 This warranty does not apply to any defect in the goods arising from fair wear and tear, wilful damage, accident, negligence by you or any third party (e.g. not using a surge protector), use otherwise than as recommended by us or the manufacturer (e.g. in an unventilated / hot or dusty environment), failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions, or any alteration or repair carried out without the manufacturer's approval.

@ubuysa okay thank you.
If it happens again I'll contact them.
I'll plug it into my extension lead from now but didn't have the issue before I sent my pc away.

I'll see how it goes.

Looks like I might be doing another RMA for my PSU.
Just sent them the serial number so they can check warranty on it, I'm so surprised with the issues I've had with this machine. The first PC I got from then lasted me 8 years without any issues.

I'm hoping I can get the part back and I won't have anymore issues. I'm concerned it not going to be a power supply issue and it's something to do with cpu or something since they replaced it.

How often does it fail to start?

Last few days ive had to wait several hours then it turns on. Today it hasn't turned on at all today...

Tried different power cable, unplugged all usb devices. Still nothing.

The RGB on my motherboard still comes on. Just doesn't start up,no fans run either.

Does sound like a PSU issue. I would expect at least power up and then error beep codes if it was something component related like RAM or CPU.

I disconnected the PSU and tried the paperclip test. The PSU fan spins.
When it's inside the PC and switched on at the back, the fan doesn't spin.
RGB light on motherboard is on,power button does nothing.

Surely if it was the PSU when doing the paperclip test nothing would of happend?

So confused haha @SpyderTracks

I’m very confused too. Sorry, I’m out of my depth here :(

Just double check the CPU output from the PSU is fully connected on the motherboard. Is usually a 6 pin? Onto the top left of the mobo

I found that the issue was.
I checked everything by going through the motherboard manual and the cable for the power button was not fully connected to the motherboard!

Once I pushed it in to the slot, computer booted us all fine.

Thankfully it's not the PSU.

Merry Christmas!
