Need some help to buy a new gaming laptop

I need some help in building a good gaming laptop... Any oppinions on the below ?

For gaming, there's no benefit to over 16Gb RAM, just won't be used.

I'd push for the RTX 2070 personally, the GPU will be the first bottleneck in any gaming laptop, the 2070 will last a long time at 1080p. Plus I think the 2060 is currently out of stock?

You'd want the better thermal paste and silver warranty.

But other than that, looks sweet.

I am still thinking what to do -to buy or not, i have it in the basket ... is just the price is too good... you cant find anything from a wide commercial brand like msi... dell ... to offer such config for this price... and i am a little afraid to be honest.

I know, the fact that you can customise all the parts AND get it so cheap!

I'm still using my PCS laptop I bought in 2014, used it every day since then and it's travelled around the world with me and I've never had a problem apart from needing to repaste it every so often which you'd have to do with any performance laptop.

They're very good, and should something go wrong, PCS support is fantastic, it's worth taking out a decent warranty, personally I opted for Gold and never had to use it, but I'd rather that than something going wrong and not having cover.

BTW, I don't work for PCS, I'm just a customer who really likes them and enjoys helping out on the forum so much, they offered me a job of moderating which I do out of enjoyment, no other reason.

I'm not sure on all the details, I am going to send an email asking for more. However, from what i've seen from ASUS laptops, the 240hz screens are 3ms and the 144hz screen is around 25ms. But those are the low end ones could be diffident here. Again the screen is still better than 60hz. What the man on the phone working for PCSpecialist also said was that the screen is IPS 72% NTSC however he was unsure on thermals and SRGB. I plan purchasing once I get more details, however the Recoil IV is a little thicker still pretty slim, but a little bulkier if that makes sense. As a result i'm sure it will have slightly better thermals but also keep in mind the recoil has a mechanical keyboard, something which seems interesting. It won't be noisy on audio due to the new RTX technology which is being implemented for AI background noise removal.

Look at Call of duty: Warzone now. With certain (performance boosting) settings enabled, I've seen as much as 15Gb of RAM being used on a laptop.

In the next decade (or so), I can see 32GB of Ram becoming a requirement, also Chrome will always exist .

That’s a really irrelevant comment and obvious, we’re talking about this build not one a decade down the line. No self respecting gamer would use a 10 year old rig in the first place.

And the max RAM utilised in any game is 12GB currently.

If you really want to have a 32gb ram on your laptop, go for it. Although you will need to understand that you are spending a unnecessary value, as it wont be really used. Eve with your Chrome opening many tabs it wont be a issue. After all, that is why you have a huge power performance GPU and CPU.

Hope you can clarify your thoughts about Ram and go for what you really need.

For gaming, any normal person would close all other windows as you don’t want unecessary load on the CPU and RAM. And the gaming window takes the focus. In that instance 16Gb is more than enough for any PC.

If you’re streaming or something like that, then that’s an additional requirement that would need to be stated as that requires different CPU and RAM configurations.

But if you’ve got loads of windows open while you’re gaming the question would be why?

I think they are missing the whole thing... i cannot say for sure ...PC was not very clear on this ... but my guess is they wont be able to deliver until end of May ... i am in pre-production for 1 month and a few days now and i need to pass through production, testing and the rest... and this wont happen because yesterday the status has changed into "Stock due 6th of May" ... and today will change into "Stock due 7th of May" ....

i was in the same boat last year, ordered on black friday and received on 15th january. i didn't think of cancelling the order and tbh the value for money with PCS is unparalleled in the OEM market so i i just stuck with it. i get your frustration, sometimes pcs bungles the time for laptops to a ridiculous degree.

Mate, is not ok to do things like this ... as a company. The value for money is not unparalleled .. as you do not know what components PCS are using.. where are they made and stuff.. A MSI gaming laptop with a better GPU RTX 2080 Q is with 300£ more...

I cancelled and then they told me they have it and i reinstated the order ... 2 more weeks have passed lol )

I am 1 month and 2 weeks in and i still did not receive it ... also the price for the laptop on PCS side went down loool... i didnt even receive it and they already sell it cheaper...
