Lockdown - What's Worth a Watch?

I was obviously too young the first time around, so I should probably give it another go using my more mature imagery discombobulation filters.
I was ten when I watched it for the first time… that might go some way to explaining why I am the way I am 🤪

I applaud anyone who is able to give Twin Peaks a good go and I respect anyone who can admit it’s just not for them after that. If you’ve watched Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire or Eraserhead and not enjoyed them then it’ll likely be the same for TP.

Lynch is on another plane to the rest of us.

He's randomly pops up on twitter with really bizarre little video clips, the guy is brilliant

Don't know if this was mentioned recently but the Lincoln Lawyer season 2 is out, the first part at least. Second part to follow early August.

Brilliant watching in my opinion. It doesn't try too hard to be overly clever or anything like that. It just is what it is and I find it very compelling and entertaining. First season was great and the second seems to be just as good.

I just finished cowboy bebop (yeah, yeah, 24 years after the original release, i'm late) - the animation serie (and movie), not the live one.
I wasn't ready for this.
I'm kinda speechless, but god, i know that i'm gonna miss this universe.
I absolutely recommand the animation serie (and movie)
Like, you have to see it.
The original soundtrack is so good (@SpyderTracks, if you don't have it, try to find it), the animation, the universe, the characters and this end ... this end ...
I !
WANT !!
MORE !!!

Go for it guys, it's totally worth it, even if you're not really into animation

Watched Chernobyl over the last day or so. It always had high ratings and it was on my radar for a while. It didn't disappoint. It's quite rightly dark and sombre throughout, it may not be everyone's cup of tea but it's a very enthralling insight into the whole disaster.

We watched it when it first came out, brilliant series but as you say, it’s dark so it’ll be a good few years before we can do a rewatch.

Amazing acting from Jared Harris, I’d not really seen him in much before but he was fantastic. It was also a bit odd to see the dad from Friday Night Dinner playing a really detestable butthole. Oh, and Trevor from Eastenders has got a lot of extra timber on him these days…

Watched Sweetwater last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I always love this type of story, the turning point of race discrimination in the NBA.

It's not high budget or particularly well polished, but it's a really enjoyable true-ish story sports drama :)

My daughter loves the Meg. We've been keeping a close eye on this one but unfortunately it seems it's gone down the same CGI hole that most movies have gone down since lockdown. It looks absolutely gash, I don't think any plot can save the awful effects.

We will still definitely check it out, but it's going to take a lot to change my mind given the trailers.

OMG, not only are they doing a sequel, BUT it has Statham and a few of the original cast... AMAZING!!!

The Meg 2 - Release date this Friday 4th August!!!
Just when you thought movies couldn’t get any dafter! The last one was pretty mad, can’t imagine what set pieces they’ll have lined up but count me in, it can’t be any worse than the sharknado movies.

You see I adore trash movies like sharknado, anaconda, deep blue sea, the trashier they are, the better, it's for those amazing speeches that are just so cringeworthy, they're too good.

This is one of my all time favourites in Deep Blue Sea

I grew up on b-films like Cat People, the stuff, critters, the howling, they all have a special place in my heart. Decades later and those actors and directors became pretty big (some, not all)

Oh god, no I haven't, but I'm grabbing it as we speak, anything Nic is bound to be absurd, I'm all over it!
OH MY GOD. Take a day off work. Watch this movie. Watch it again with your ‘what the hell did I just see’ spectacles on. And be prepared to do a giant shrug afterwards. It’s the most brilliant bit of nonsense I’ve ever witnessed.

It may be worthy of its very own thread, there’s so much going on.

Report back after viewings, please👍

I've got an exam on Wednesday morning, might be the perfect unwind after that!

Can't believe you missed out snakes on a plane

Deep blue sea could have been fantastic with a bit more budget I think. The scale of the sharks changed continuously, much like Sharknado, but apart from that and some hammy acting I think it's a passable shark movie.

The Meg, absurd as it was, had some time and effort put into the effects. The scales were plausible. This Meg2 has just went so far out there it's in another galaxy. Real shame IMO.
