Hi Everyone,
I am wanting to move over to the PC gaming world from the PS5. I will mainly be using the PC for gaming, however I also do a lot of digital art as well as photo editing.
I play a variety of different games, and I am looking to build a PC which will last a very long time, as well as be able to run the largest GPU intensive games without absolutely maxing the machine out. The game I play the most is Warzone, however I also spend a lot of time playing other AAA games such as:
I’d be planning to play the RPG titles at least at 1440p at 60 FPS but ideally 60 FPS at 4K resolution. As for the monitor, I will likely go with something that can keep up with the PC build. I initially had in mind the Alienware 27 gaming monitor - (AW2721D) as it has very high refresh rates, while also 1440p resolution. Open to suggestions for the monitor. I dont think a monitor over 27 inches is for me, and as long as the minimum refresh rates are around 144 or higher, that should be good for me.
I am looking to make this a long term investment as the last time I purchased a low-mid range PC was back in 2009, so I would like something to stand the test of time (Relatively speaking)
It will be a bit of a treat to myself, and I am happy to spend a fair amount on a decent set up, while also keeping everything reasonable when it comes to price/performance. I would be aiming for a budget of ~£2,000 - £3,200. Currently GPU costs are very high, but with the new Zen 4 and RTX 4000 series around the corner, I hope these prices will come down a bit.
My current choices below:
(let me know if you think its a bit over the top, or I could change the components out to save cost but keep performance)
Case
ASUS TUF Gaming GT501 RGB Tempered Glass Mid Tower Case - White
The style, colour and design attract me to this case. Good set of I/O ports, with the exception of USB type C port, but I can live without that.
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i7 12-Core Processor i7-12700KF (3.6GHz) 25MB Cache
ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero Motherboard
Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (2x 16GB) 5200MHz DDR5 RAM - Black
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GAMING OC 12GB Graphics Card
Seagate FireCuda 530 1TB M.2 Gen4 NVMe SSD (up to 7300MB/s Read | 6000MB/s Write)
ASUS ROG Strix 850W 80 PLUS Gold Fully-Modular PSU Power Supply
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling
Corsair iCue H150i Elite Capellix RGB 360mm AIO CPU Liquid Cooler
Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut High Performance Thermal Paste
Operating System
Windows 11 Home 64 Bit
Operating System Language
United Kingdom - English Language
I'd really appreciate any feedback and suggestions for improvements that anyone has to offer. Thanks!

Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i7 12-Core Processor i7-12700KF (3.6GHz) 25MB Cache
- Good processor for gaming, or so I am told. I will be having this also overclocked to increase performance
ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero Motherboard
- Recommended for top end gaming PCs, however if a cheaper motherboard is available which provided similar performance, happy to consider.
Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (2x 16GB) 5200MHz DDR5 RAM - Black
- Most games these days recommend 16GB RAM, but how long will that recommendation last for until they need more RAM. I have opted for 32GB, to consider the potential that increased needs of Games and software also increases.
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GAMING OC 12GB Graphics Card
- I found this to be a hard choice to make. A lot of different brand names for the same model RTX 3080 Ti, went for Gigabyte as I know that brand and some reviews rate it highly.
- Again, probably chose the 3080 ti version over the 3080 mainly due to future proofing and some reviews giving it better overall score when it comes to 4K gaming.
Seagate FireCuda 530 1TB M.2 Gen4 NVMe SSD (up to 7300MB/s Read | 6000MB/s Write)
- PCIe Gen 4 boot drive with quick read/write speeds
- 1TB should be more than enough, however also conflicted if a smaller drive would be better for boot up and have a 2nd SSD drive for storage etc
ASUS ROG Strix 850W 80 PLUS Gold Fully-Modular PSU Power Supply
- Looking for a quiet power supply as my last one sounded like a rocket taking off.
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling
Corsair iCue H150i Elite Capellix RGB 360mm AIO CPU Liquid Cooler
- Seems like a reliable AIO that would hopefully serve me for years to come.
